Nate - Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. Meg and I would definitely love to take you up on your offer to crash at your place in Portland once you make it out there!
I can't remember when you said you were flying out to look at housing. If you've already been, I hope it was a successful trip.
I'm looking at a few things for after graduation. I'm going to start applying for concert planning oriented jobs (w/ orchestras, new music ensembles, colleges, etc.) to see what I can find. Also, private school teaching jobs (as I am living in New England -- home to the affluent!). On top of that, I'll also be doing the same odd jobs: gigging as much as possible, teaching a lot of guitar, taking ..ist work and other music tech projects.
Main thing is find a way to support my own music and have some ability to set up larger scale projects: sound installations, concerts, getting a music group together, etc.
We're also looking to move after I graduate into a bigger arts community. (I've been wanting to get back involved with rock music again as well.) We're currently looking at Brooklyn, Philadelphia, with the occasional thought of a West Coast move. Portland has actually come up in conversation a lot recently -- speaking of which, I heard a rumor you were thinking about moving there?
Glad that all is going well with you! Along with that mentioned Portland rumor, do you have any plans in the mix?
Nate - everything is good here! I'm up in Hartford, CT still, in my last year of grad school for Composition. I've been working with some like-minded and talented musicians up here -- it's been really nice to be in this kind of music community. Meg is living up here also, working for a homelessness non-profit, so it's been a good time!
Good to hear what you've been up to via myspace. The mixes sound great. How have things been with you?
I may be changing my phone number next week. Good lord, I'm officially becoming a georgia resident. I plan to call you, so if you see a strange number possibly beginning with 770, answer it please :)
