What it's about
Camp Hero is a planned veterans transitional living respite designed specifically to support the short term transitional housing needs of all veterans, designed to give additional support to those who are engaged in PTSD recovery. The goal is to create the first living environment farm to serve as a model for other organizations to follow - we recently had 18 acres donated so we are well on our way to success!
Camp Hero will be a place where active duty and recently discharged returning heroes can call home for 3-12 months during their transition back to civilian life. It would be difficult to exhaust the need to care for our returning men and women in a responsible, honorable way.
Not just horses
The heroes that make the farm their home for a short time will have access to resources and professionals to assist with employment preparation and search, college admissions and financial aid, access to rehabilitative services, fitness trails for maintaining health, and community outreach opportunities to strengthen their ties back into the American fabric.
They will have to do some chores, as they would any place they live, but also there will be a sharing from veteran to veteran, in ways that the average American just would not understand. This is all a part of their transition.
We need all of you here on MySpace and accross the nation to tell our story. Visit our website at http://www.AmericanHeroesReturn.com and join our mailing list. It is critical that we get this facility open for our veterans. We've made so much progress...please, join with us to make this a success!
