InfluencesAmerican Racket was founded in 2001 as "The SoundStage Cloggers" in Gainesville, Florida, by Andy Howard. The group quickly become a performance asset to Florida attractions, festivals, and private events. As a competitive group, the troupe gained exposure in the clogging and percussive dance world and began attracting some of the best dancers in the nation for their shows and productions. In 2007, the company relocated to Orlando, Florida, and has become and active part of the local cultural, arts, and entertainment community as well as a frequent performance group among tourism, travel, hospitality, and convention professionals. The group has performed professionally for corporations such as SeaWorld, Hard Rock, National Association of Home Builders, Goodyear Tires, and Sams Club. The company arranges custom performances which range from solo performers to an impressive force of fifty or more. The company also has a broad repertoire which includes chorography from traditional (old-time) to hot country and on to hip hop, funk, pop, and beyond. The dancers even showcase a range of percussive styles including clogging, tap, flatfoot, buck, and Irish. One thing that remains consistant is the company's dedication to delivering high-quality, high-energy entertainment that you can rely on.
Sounds LikeA high-energy freight train. "The talented young men and women, under the direction of Andy Howard, whoop, holler, grin and clap enthusiastically throughout the show. At the end, so did the audience." --Matthew J. Palm Orlando Sentinel "Under Andrew Howard's guidance, his clogging troupe is moving a step in teh right direction." --Brittney Argo Orange and Blue / State of the Arts "Fun and beautiful." --Megan Alrutz University of Central Florida / Theatre

Florida Dance Theatre and CineDance Jazz Dance come together in this groundbreaking and innovative collaboration to interpret the powers of the word MOVE. What does it mean to MOVE...to be moved?

Movement and visual images explore the word MOVE as it relates to varying emotional, intellectual, political, professional, spiritual and romantic themes.

Director of CineDance, Casey Saxon is known for her fine and fearless dancers, her visceral, captivating and sometimes cynical choreography and her innovative fusion of classicism, film and funk.

Associate Artistic Director and resident choreographer to the Florida Dance Theatre, Ferdinand De Jesus is praised for his thought provoking and dynamic choreographic works that demonstrate the technical strength and virtuosity of the company dancers.

Together, De Jesus and Saxon delve into this Eurocentric contemporary dance artist collaboration project.

Join us on our journey of exploration into what it means to MOVE...to be moved.
