"Darryl, the more I thought about your film the better
I realized it was. It was very very good watching it
the 1st time, but the fact that I keep thinking about
it, is proof of it's effectiveness. This is going to
be a BIG film for you, I wouldn't be surprised at an
Oscar nod on this one.
Good Luck and keep me informed."

"This film is awesome. Roberts brings such a humanity to the film. I want to show it to my wife, right now!"
About me: In 2004, we Americans spent $12.4 billion (yes, billion!) on cosmetic surgery. The estimated cost for basic nutrition and health care in developing countries: $13 billion. If those figures don't convince you that our priorities are skewed, consider that they are merely the tip of the iceberg. The real costs of our obsession with youth, beauty and a slender physique are tallied in an epidemic of eating disorders (anorexia is the leading cause of death related to mental illness), complications and deaths from unnecessary surgeries, exposure to dangerous toxins in cosmetics, and the equally toxic effects on a generation of young people who are told-in some 40,000 media messages a year-that unless you look like the supermodels and rock stars, you're not good enough for anyone to love. It's a message too many of them are buying.
How did we get this way? Who is harmed by our quest for a perfection that has more to do with airbrushing and Photoshop than with reality? And who is profiting-hugely-from encouraging the insecurities that fuel that quest? In this candid, far-reaching and fascinating documentary, filmmaker Darryl Roberts talks with the movers and shakers of advertising, fashion, entertainment and the media; with educators, health-care professionals and scientists; and with hundreds of ordinary men, women and teens. The answers they give are astounding, with consequences that go way more than skin deep.
Follow Darryl as he asks Anthony Kedis, and Martin Short, as well as The Vagina Monologues playwright Eve Ensler, Ted Casablanca from E! Channel, the Editors-in-Chief of various teen magazines, television plastic surgeons Dr. Robert Rey, Dr. David Matlock, and Dr. Anthony Griffin, and other celebrities and experts in cosmetics, fashion, media and self-esteem the major question at hand…
