I'm a holistically-minded geeky-nerd and soon-to-be-wife (7/18), mama (11/14), and expat (in China, 1/2010). So far, in this pregnancy, any and every kind of meat (except for eggs) makes me throw up. I have hyperemesis gravidarum (severe morning sickness), as well as soy, seed, and some nut allergies (I can eat Jif peanut butter, but no other brand because of the preservatives). The only food group I can seem to keep down is fruit.
I'm going to try soy in moderation. The worst thing that happens is that I throw up. That happens 2-3 times a day anyhow, and I'm on pills that are supposed to keep me from throwing up (Zofran, Reglan, and Phenergan). I bought 3 different Morningstar Farms products. Once I muster up the courage, I'll give it a try.
On top of the pregnancy, hyperemesis, and allergies, I'm hypoglycemic. I'm having trouble getting all the protein I need. I've been having an increasing number of low blood sugar episodes. I can't eat all the foods that I've read about that equal one serving of protein. C'mon, 6 tablespoons of peanut butter? Almost a cup of nuts? I'm full just looking at that. I'm tempted to look for protein pills.
