Greenville underground music appreciation is the stuff of legend. Who am I? I promote the arts. Music, performance, creativity in general. I lived (and still live) for this stuff and if you were looking to get a show, exhibition, interpretive dance, mash-potato sculpture, etc. showcased in Eastern Carolina (Greenville, NC to be exact) I was the guy to go to who'd try his damndest to make it happen. Greenville is a perfect spot to showcase your goods if touring through to play Raleigh, Wilmington,Chapel Hill, or Richmond, VA for example. It's basically between all those cities and only about 2 hrs (more or less) away from each. I was trying to get the town a reputation for being it's own seperate, desired spot and think I accomplished that goal. Friends with any of the bands listed as having played here? Ask them about Greenville and they'll tell you we're the real deal (and probably share some f'ed up, funny, weird, gross, awesome story about their stop through). The people will come out any day of the week to support the rock, the roll, and the everything in between because they are severely cut off from quality, original live entertainment. Greenville supports all types of creation. This was my baby: The Spazzatorium Galleria! (*editors note - I was hardly ever alone in my endeavors so credit to the people who rode the storm with me) I also had a house/venue I ran shows out of called The Spazz Haus (still throwing down 1 or 1 shows a month). On occasion other beautiful folks hosted events with me. I stuck by Greenville doing everything in my power to keep rad events happening for damn near a decade. Those who've attended and/or played at the shows I've been involved with can attest I tried to make everything run smooth and be awesome for everyone involved. It was a straight-up DIY endeavor. Made no profits. Consistantly lost money. My reward was being able to see the creative types come through Greenville, open minds, and get the attention they deserved. It was a good run. Another reward from doing this is being able to live in Philadelphia and be a part of The Danger Danger Gallery. I still love Greenville and what it can be...I just can't be there now because I've exhausted all options on how to do what I love to do and not get fined or arrested.
