    Amid Life Crisis was built on a classic rock and roll foundation from which a diverse alternative/rock experience has developed. Dave Conklin lead guitarist and vocalist, and Jeff Wesley, rhythm guitarist and vocalist, are former members of Odessa, a popular local group in the 80s. This group was best known from frequent performances at the area's hottest club at the time, The Station Complex. Highlights of the group's resume include performing as an opening act for national acts BADFINGER and POCO. The group accomplished something that was difficult in the local market at that time as they performed more than a dozen original songs during most of their performances. .. .. Amid Life Crisis accomplishes a diverse musical mix in part through the other members of the band and their experience. John Turner, drummer, has recently performed with local rock bands, 3 Plus John and Corrective Action. John Conklin, bass guitarist, was formerly a member of the Wilkes University based group Yarish. On occasion a local musician or friend of the band will sit in on a few tunes playing guitar, allowing John to pick up his sax, adding another dimension to the depth of the performance. .. .. Amid Life Crisis format started when the guys began playing for private parties. The members of the band have been around long enough to have learned that it really is all about the friends of the band. Dave sums this up, stating, “We know that in order to continue to play in front of people we must play what those people want to hear from us.” In that light, the band is very open to suggestions. Members of Amid Life Crisis are very community minded and are open to providing free services for a legitimate cause. .. .. When the guys decided to go public again, the name “Odessa” was being used by a national act. Having a subtle sense of humor, the name “Amid Life Crisis” was created. The band is booking a limited schedule trying to keep the public appearances to one show per month for now. But, as with all things, this policy is subject to change. .. ..
