Sam and Isaac met a good few years back as students at Sarah Lawrence College. Their tuneship was cemented by a now-legendary weekly gig at The Spinning Wheel in Bronxville. If you were there, you are still recovering. Meanwhile, Sam and Keith Murphy performed for 10 years as members of the avant-folk ensemble Assembly. Now they play together as a trio and it is great!
Isaac Alderson, from Chicago, is a master impressionist, beatboxer, & three-time All-Ireland champion. He has toured with some of the best musicians
in Irish music, including a 2-year stint with the Eileen Ivers band. He's also performed and recorded with guitarist James Riley, performs regularly with New York mad boys Jameson's Revenge, and has a cat named Leroy.
Sam Amidon, from Brattleboro, plays fiddle and banjo and sings and draws comics and makes videos and can count in binary code on his fingers really fast. He can go up to 1,023 on his ten fingers. If he had an eleventh finger, he would be able to get up to 2,047. Sam's solo debut, an album of Irish fiddle solos, led Fiddler Magazine to say "'Solo Fiddle' will do much to establish Sam as a musician of high caliber." His recent album of folksongs, "All Is Well," recorded in Iceland, has received praise from Rolling Stone, Entertainment Weekly, SPIN, and Keith, who is not easy to please.
Keith Murphy is the killinest folk guitarist/mandolinist on the eastern seaboard, and a great singer as well. He hails from the north country - the province of Newfoundland. He has performed music from various northern traditions with his trio Nightingale, as well as
working with Sam Amidon in Assembly. He has also performed and recorded with great fiddlers such as Liz Carroll and Lissa Schneckenburger. Keith recently released a beautiful collection of folksongs from various northern traditions, called "Bound For Canaan."
