Performer, recording artist and educator Ami Molinelli has brought her unique sound of playing Brazilian, Latin Jazz, Cuban, African, Italian and Celtic percussion to music fans throughout the U.S. and beyond. Ami holds a Masters of Fine Arts in World Music from the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) and has studied Brazilian percussion and dance at the Universidade Federal da Bahia in Salvador, Brazil. Since 2003 Ami has been an Artist-In-Residence at the Los Angeles Music Center, teaching a percussion-and-music curriculum she developed utilizing non-traditional, household items as percussion instruments that K-12 students use to compose, perform and create with as a collective ensemble.
