My vocal influences were mostly old school though, all the stuff my parents listened to: Donnie Hathaway, Stevie Wonder, Bob Marley, Chaka Khan, Patti LaBelle, Prince, Earth Wind & Fire, Roberta Flack, Bono of U2, Commodores, Marvin Gaye, Teddy P, Whitney Houston, Anita Baker, Peobo Bryson, George Benson & Sam Cooke.
AMIR's distinctive voice, engaging lyrics, and funky beats are guaranteed to move you. His gift as a singer is matched by his genius as a songwriter. With more than 25 pop/r&b/soul songs written and composed, under his publishing company AMIR, Inc., AMIR's thought provoking lyrics and original sounds have been moving audiences across the country. As a shorty, AMIR found his passion, winning many Chicago talent shows & two Illinois Youth Music scholarships. In July of 2001 he headed West to the City of Angels where he provided unique vocals for underground hip hop artist Medusa. Fall of 2005 AMIR won in Harlem, New York on the nationally televised 'Showtime at the Apollo' with an emotional rendition of Donnie Hathaway's 'A Song For You', written by Leon Russell. He returned the following season and won again, the re-runs are STILL in syndication and two of his four Apollo appearances can be found on YouTube (http://youtube.com/watch?v=BLez05-qslA). Five fans from across the country have added AMIR's Apollo performances to YouTube, with nearly 100,000 views combined. April 2006 he appeared in Universal Picture's major motion picture 'American Dreamz' (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2199719/), with stars Hugh Grant, Dennis Quaid, Mandy Moore, Willem Dafoe, written & directed by Paul Weitz. This is just his beginning, currently AMIR is recording, performing with his band, GRITS&GROOVE, in addition to interviewing artist management firms, production companies and record labels..............
