The Amit Chatterjee Alliance is a group of some of the most excellent musicians from around the world in different fields of music, collaborating with Amitava Chatterjee (Amit Chatterjee) who is known for his musical efforts to come upon a music that seamlessly and spontaneously flows between European and American harmonies, classical North Indian melodic forms and other profound music from the great cultures around the world, making a new music for a new time. Assimilating the wisdom gained from great musicians whith whom he continues to play, including: Joe Zawinul (7 out of 11 total years with the Zawinul Syndicate as well having played on special projects with the great master), Layne Redmond, Badal Roy, Victor Bailey, Alex Acuna, Peter Erskine, Jim Beard, David Liebman, Eric Johnson, Michael Wolff, Pete Lockett, Mike Clark, Lincoln Goines, Nitin Sawhney, Glen Velez, Vicki Richards, Robert Thomas Jr, and many others, as well as recording with many artists, Chatterjee continues onward with his own compositions and new collaborations in which musicians have the freedom to express what is natural for each one. His current projects include: "The AMIT CHATTERJEE ALLIANCE"; "Taalisman", the trance-world/jazz duo with master percussionist Pete Lockett; trio with the great Badal Roy on tabla and master saxophonist Tim Green; and SANINDE with master bassist Lincoln Goines and the great Rocky Bryant on drums.
TRUE FUSION IS CREATED BY SINCERE MUSICIANS BECOMING FRIENDS, RESPECTING EACH OTHER'S BACKGROUNDS AND PLAYING NATURALLY WITH EACH OTHER. IT CANNOT HAPPEN BY "COMBINING STYLES" IN SOME ARTIFICIAL WAY TO SUPPOSEDLY CREATE SOMETHING "INTERESTING" THAT DOES NOT CONNECT WITH OUR HEARTS. IT'S ONLY MUSIC WHEN THERE IS HEART.
