With a two album repertoire behind him, countless shows around Israel and the world (both as a solo artist and as the guitar player for rock band Eatliz) and collaborations with the cream of Israeli musicians – Amit Erez is considered one of the bigger musical talents to rise in Israel in the last couple of years.
Little more than a year after the release of his last, acclaimed album ("A classic 5-star album" Gal Uchovsky, Timeout Tel Aviv), Amit is currently finishing work on his next full-length which will be released June '09 by Anova Records.
Amit's first recordings were brought to light some 8 years ago through the Internet, gaining popularity in Israeli websites such as "New Stage". Later, these home recordings were compiled in an album called Wish I Could Make It A Story, which was self-released by Amit. Many of these songs found their way into later albums, with different production and arrangement.
Amit spent the following year in Rotterdam, where he studied music and composition. After coming back to Israel Amit formed a band, released a first single under the name "Trickstar Waterfall", and joined Eatliz as a guitar player. Amit's first album – an Acoustic, intimate EP called "Black Light" – was released in 2006 via Earsay Records, and won the hearts of many radio editors.
In 2007 Amit signed with Anova Music, which released Amit's second album (his first full length) in November that year – simply called Amit Erez. The album was produced and arranged in collaboration between Amit and his band mates. Among the album's guest musicians were young singer Rotem Or and famed Israeli musician Shlomi Shaban (on piano).
The album was received enthusiastically by fans and media alike. Both singles released from the album ("Postcard" and "Clever & Strong") were played in high rotation in different radio channels (and both got in the Galgalatz night playlist). In the following year Amit toured all over Israel, both with the full band and in Acoustic solo shows.
Postcard, the album's second single, gained international attention when it got to a top 5 spot in the International Music Awards, where it competed against thousands of songs worldwide. The song did not win, but won the "Vox Populi" award by votes of more than 40,000 listeners worldwide.
In July 2008 Amit was selected to open for Minimal Compact in their short reunion tour, and later did the same for Githead (Colin Newman and Malka Spiegel's latest project). Later that month Amit played a full band show at the Italia Lovewave Festival, on a stage headlined by The Chemical Brothers.
In Oct. 2008 Amit was chosen to play at the Berlin Popkomm, one of Europe's biggest music conventions. Amit played as part of an Israeli band night, which is a first for Popkomm.
In Nov. 2008 Amit played at the Israeli Piano Festival, in a show that surprised many fans in it's new unusual arrangements. Amit, considered a virtuous guitar player, let his usual instrument take second seat to arrangents written by him for the piano. Famed Israeli singer-songwriter Amir Lev appeared as a guest.
In April 2009, while working on his new album, Amit had his first international release – Summer Conquered by Rain. The album is a compilation of songs from his two previous albums, sold through digital platforms worldwide.
Amit's new album of completely brand new material, titled Last Night When I Tried to Sleep I Felt The Ocean With My Fingertips, was released on June 1st in Israel by Amit's label – Anova Records.

Thanks for your nice comment. I received your new CD the same day I had to decide which "Album of the month" I'd choose (the show was broadcasted a few hours later). Actually, I chose it without having really listened to it: this is to say how confident I was on what I was going to find. The rest of the story proves that I was right. Splendid stuff indeed !
