In the early nineties electronic production started for JLeon with the post-punk experiments of AM-OV-MEME, which lead the warehouse acid sounds of MERCURY TRANSMISSIONS. After numerous infamous shows and being band for some venues JLeon moved on to AMOEBA with co-producer James Carpenter, AMOEBA play a dominate roll in the live dance and electronic scene in Adelaide bringing their blend of tech house and techno to the Adelaide & Melbourne Clubs. After many years in the Adelaide electronic muzak scene, nominated 5 times as best live act @ SADMA and several releases under their belts it has become time for an evolution and splitting of cells. Now JLeon has had a shift towards a focus on just purely techno under the new moniker of “Let’s Be Modern”…

Born out of tape loops, reverb and natural distortion… Amoeba Muzak has been one of the longest standing electronic artists in Adelaide, and still after ten years is consistently pulling crowds with dance floor fillers. Amoeba Muzak’s beats have been gathering like storm clouds over the semi-arid landscape of Adelaide’s live electronic music scene - slaking the thirst of parched punters with the refreshingly unpretentious interpretation of the often dictatorial relationship between musician and dance floor. Essentially, an Amoeba Muzak performance does not dictate. It communicates. Whether listening to Amoeba Muzak’s driving layers of purist Techno or tweaked-out ribbons of fruity House – Amoeba Muzak’s style is not always immediately recognizable. In fact, live sets are often mistaken for a seamlessly executed dj mix, but given the unusual ability to meld a diversity of tempo and flavour along the very core of their performance. Supported by an ever-growing and staunchly loyal fan base, Amoeba Muzak has confidently carved a niche in Adelaide’s extremely fickle underground club climate. Current techniques and environment consist of vocal manipulation, found percussion, and synthesis. These sounds are de-constructed and re-worked into a composed format through contemporary electronic music, forming a wide variety of music from strange ambient electro type sounds, finely tuned beats, jacking house music and raw techno. And with the anticipation of the upcoming “Kick’n against the Bricks” Ep on Lockedgrooverecordings, Amoeba Muzak is set to rock tha foundations!!!
