AMOS HOPKINS is a multi-instrumentalist and vocalist that has been playing music his whole life. He got an early education in bluegrass and old time music from his parents who both played in the genre. His mother is an old time musician that plays clawhammer banjo, washboard, and spoons. His father has played with such names as Red Allen, Earle Taylor, The Hotmud Family, and Kenny Baker. Amos grew up in Southern Ohio and endured a 15 year detour in other genres before he returned to his musical roots. In his career he has played at various high profile venues including The New Orleans Jazz Festival, The Alaska State Folk Festival, TV/radio/theatre engagements, and has won various competitions for the fiddle and other instruments. He has opened for a variety of national acts, and has done session work from Memphis, TN to Alaska. He has performed all over the world from India, Mexico, Hawaii, to
touring on the west coast of the United States. He also has worked as a disc jockey for various radio stations across the country and has worked as a music critic and writer. He and his wife have recently moved back to the area after a long stint of living in Alaska. Amos is currently playing at venues, concerts, and festivals all over the region with different groups.
