Lyrics and poetry are often difficult to translate, but I am going to do a brief summary of the songs displayed on this page.
The first one "Viene el juglar", "Here comes the minstrel".I composed this song as a homage to all the musicians who spend their lives going up and down, from North to South, from East to West, as minstrels did in past times.
The second song, "Romance del Duero", a poem written by the spanish poet Gerardo Diego, tells us about the river which goes along Castilla y León, a region situated in the centre of Spain, where I was born. This river is a mirror which reflects Castilla, its countryside, its landscape and the regrets of History.
The next song "Nadie es más que nadie" is rather difficult to translate. I based the lyrics on this spanish proverb. The meaning could be "nobody is more important than anybody". That is, all of us are equal, with the same feelings, with the same rights, no matter the status we have in society.
"Pisa despacio", lyrics by Mario Esteban, " your steps may be soft, let the snow sleep into the winter, but if you leave, I need your footprints in the snow, I will follow you when I wake up". I don't know why, but this time the music was very easy to be composed. Perhaps the landscape which inspired the poem...the snow, the winter, trees which had lost their leaves...very poetic.
"Te esperaba" lyrics by Ignacio Sanz. "I was waiting for you, I was a thirsty river waiting for its flow and you came suddenly, as magic rain.
"Vivo sin vivir en mí". Really difficult to translate this poem!, written by Teresa de Jesús, one of the top mystic writers in Spain. I dedicated a CD to her poetry. It was quite a challenge! The translation could be "I live, but I can't live, as it's so high the life I expect, that I die because I can't die".
" Soñé que tú me llevabas" it is a song that I composed based on Antonio Machado's poem dedicated in memory of his wife, very young deceased. It is a very nostalgic poem, the meaning coul be:" I dreamed that you were taking me along a white path in the middle of the green field towards the blue mountains. Your voice and hand were so alive in my dream...I still hope, nobody knows what death means".

AMPARO GARCÍA-OTERO Nace en Valladolid . Se traslada a Madrid donde se licencia en Filosofía y Letras e inicia sus estudios musicales de canto. Colabora con varios Grupos Musica tradicional y comienza a cantar como solista tanto música popular como sus propias canciones. Interviene en varios programas de radio y televisión, consigue varios premios como interprete solista en distintos certamenes de música tradicional y de autor. Se traslada posteriormente a Segovia, continuando sus estudios de Canto en el Conservatorio de Valladolid. Ha interpretado numerosos conciertos como cantante lírica. En la actualidad se halla dedicada a la música tradicional y a sus propias canciones. Ha editado los trabajos discográficos
" CASTILLA, MI CORAZÓN ESPERA", "PISA DESPACIO" de los que es intérprete y autora de la letra y de la música.
Posteriormente presentó en Ávila, con gran éxito, El oratorio "VIVO SIN VIVIR EN MÍ", compuesto sobre textos poéticos de Santa Teresa de Jesús y que ha conseguido un notable éxito de ventas. Asimismo, cuenta en su haber con numerosas actuaciones, principalmente en Castilla-León y Madrid.

AMPARO GARCIA-OTERO was born in Valladolid. She moved to Madrid where she graduated in philosophy and began his musical education.She worked with groups of traditional music and began singing as a solist inclulding popular music as their own songs. She was Involved in radio and television programs, in which she won several prizes . She moved to Segovia, continuing her singing studies at the Conservatory of Valladolid. She has also performed numerous concerts of classical music . At the present time is devoted to traditional music and their own songs. She has edited the recordings .:"CASTILE, MY HEART WAITS", "WALK SLOWLY" in which she is the interpreter and author of the music and most of the lyrics. Subsequently introduced in Avila, with great success, the work "I LIVE WITHOUT LIVING” (VIVO SIN VIVIR EN MÍ), based on poems on Teresa of Jesus and it has achieved a notable success. Her latest work is the CD ((MINSTRELS OF THE RIVER DUERO) with the musician and songwriter Nino Sánchez.

"NADIE ES MÁS QUE NADIE" es un disco en el que he revestido las canciones con diferentes vestimentas, utilizando diferentes recursos musicales. El título tiene un doble sentido, por una parte el tema principal nos habla de la igualdad en esencia y en derechos de todas las personas, por otra parte, toca distintos estilos unidos por un hilo común en cuanto a arreglos e interpretación para que entre las canciones "nadie sea más que nadie". Si tuviera que definirlo, diría que es un trabajo entre la raíz folk y la música de autor.

"NADIE ES MÁS QUE NADIE" is the title of my new CD. The translation, as I explain in other part of this page, could be "nobody is more important than anybody", a spanish proverb. I have included in this page the song "Nadie es más que nadie" which intruduces us into the universe of the CD. I have composed the music and wrote the lyrics. Also included in the work and in this page you can find "Eres como la nieve" ("You look as the snow"), a version of a traditional spanish song.
"NADIE ES MÁS QUE NADIE" is a job with different musical treatment in each song. The title has a double sense: "Nobody is more important than nobody" means that everybody is equal in essence and rights, but I also want to indicate that the different styles, the different ways of composing music, deserve attention whenever the job is carefully done. I have "touched", as I said before, different styles. If I had to define the CD i would say that I have used folk roots in some of them and poetry and music of my own in the others.

"JUGLARES DEL DUERO" : Trabajo compartido con el cantautor salmantino Nino Sánchez, en el que a partir de raíces tradicionales ambos hemos compuesto una serie de canciones sobre textos de poetas vinculados al Duero o a su entorno. Están presentes Juan del Enzina, Jorge Manrique, Teresa de Jesús, Antonio Machado, Miguel de Unamuno, Gerardo Diego, y algunas canciones compuestas por nosotros en su totalidad, letra y música. En el directo tenemos dos versiones, una acústica con piano, guitarras, viento y percusiones y otra más amplia con piano, guitarras, viento, percusiones, batería y bajo. AMPARO GARCÍA-OTERO EN CONCIERTO: Es una recopilación de mi discografía entrelazando algunas versiones de música tradicional. También ofrezco este concierto en dos versiones: una acústica con piano, guitarra y percusiones y otra más amplia con mayor número de instrumentos.VIVO SIN VIVIR EN MÍ: Es una obra compuesta sobre textos poéticos de Sta. Teresa de Jesús, una de las cumbres místicas de la literatura española. He intentado adaptar la música a la personalidad de la autora, a las dos facetas de su vida, la interior y mística y la exterior, vital, activa. En este concierto me acompaña un grupo de cámara compuesto por piano/clave, violín, flauta, cello y percusiones.

“My cat leaps around the garden fence Pouncing on anything that moves There’s no defence Sleeps for hours and sometimes days Bathing in the summer rays Hibernating in the winter cold Prowling, howelling meowing so bold My cat is quick, sleek, reactions unique If I ever return as a bird or a mouse then I am going to leave my house When I am due to travel away my cat sulks for days Moody before and then turns his back as I return to the door Feeding him food from a tin Is considered by my feline friend a cardinal sin He sits and looks at me in disgust This is not what I want for my breakfast. “Give me lean chicken, salmon or fresh beluga Or I’ll slash the side of your chair like Freddy Kruger My claws are sharp I will reduce your coat To the texture and look of an old Nanny goat I go to sit in my favourite chair In front of the fire and guess whose there!
