  • October 12 & 13 The Scene By Theresa Rebeck

    • The Scene is a scathing comedy about dating, fame, fulfillment and obsession with pop culture. It is about those who are in the dating scene; those who want to be in the scene and those who have left the scene and want to return.
    • November 30 & December 1 The Last Five Years By Jason Robert Brown

      • This is an emotionally powerful and intimate musical about two New Yorkers in their twenties who fall in and out of love over the course of five years. The show's unconventional structure consists of the woman telling her story backwards while the man tells his story chronologically. The characters only meet once, at their wedding in the middle of the show.

    About me:

    ORGANIZATIONAL HISTORY OF AMPHIBIAN PRODUCTIONS

Amphibian Productions is a non-profit organization founded in 2000 by three alumni of TCU's theater department who wanted to extend the range, and quality, of theater productions in North Texas. The company's mission is to produce outstanding theatrical works in Fort Worth and New York City that implement innovative artistic concepts while exploring relevant societal issues. Dedicated to promoting creative collaborations and networking, Amphibian links its twenty-two company members living in Fort Worth, New York City, Chicago and Los Angeles, in order to present two fully staged productions and four readings a year in Fort Worth and one fully staged production and four readings a year in New York.

Amphibian Productions is an active part of the Fort Worth theater community with a growing presence in New York City. Since its inception, Amphibian has produced eight innovative and challenging plays (some were regional premieres; others were US or world premieres): Burn This by Lanford Wilson; A Leopard Complains of Its Spots by Kathleen Anderson Culebro; Three Days of Rain by Richard Greenberg; Leonce & Lena by Georg Buchner; Bash: The Latter-Day Plays by Neil LaBute; The True History of the Tragic Life and Triumphant Death of Julia Pastrana, the Ugliest Woman in the World by Shaun Prendergast; 4 Edges by Crystal Skillman; and A Room of One's Own by Virginia Woolf, adapted for the stage by Patrick Garland. The company is becoming widely recognized for its stylistically and thematically varied scripts, presented in distinctively innovative and visually exciting productions. Amphibian refuses to make safe artistic choices or to be pigeonholed into a particular style, producing realistic works as well as more unusual performance works, which have been acclaimed by audiences and critics alike.

Amphibian's reputation among theater professionals for its dedication to artistic innovation has enabled them to attract many celebrated guest artists including Laura Anderson Barbata, Sharon Benge, Anne-Lynn Kettles, Tom Pelphrey, Leonard Petit, Crystal Skillman, among others. Additionally, they developed a play reading series to showcase and develop projects by emerging and under-produced playwrights.

Amphibian's many artistic and organizational accomplishments have enabled the company to develop significant community support in its six seasons of productions, including Gail Granek, Ann L Rhodes, Steve Spielvogel and has been able and to attract many of these distinguished volunteers from Texas and New York to serve on its board of directors.

More information about Amphibian Productions' current season, as well as photos, program notes, reviews for past seasons, can be found online at our Official Website!
