A southern-born son of a Gospel group comes to the big city chasing the devil's rock n roll. After years of sweating out days busking in her subways and smoking away nights playing any of her dive bars and pubs that would have him, Lars Pluto and New York City came to an agreement. There was something missing. It was boobies.
These days AM Preacher can still be found in all those same gloriously debauched establishments, and Pluto can still be found orbiting underground. You can still count on southern music covered in a fine layer of New York filth. That is how it should be. Now however, you are treated to the perfection that is the talent of the best burlesque artists in NYC. Come and watch them dance harder to the pounding of a live band than they ever could to a sound-man's cued up CD track. Come sweat with the boys and girls and feel part of a show that is lost somewhere between rock concert and a gypsy cabaret Grandpa Pluto once told me about. It's the fire and the drum and the circle. We are humans. We sing and we play and we dance. This is what we are.
So say we all.
