SOMEWHERE BETWEEN BRETT MICHEALS AND SANTA CLAUS Creeping through the sludge ponds of Minnesota, that is where you'll find us we are AMPSONTWELVE! AMPSONTWELVE began to incubate in October of 2007 with embrionic seeds from Donnie L Johnson and Ron Wind, both on guitars. A primative conception began to grow, inspired by Black Sabbath, E.H.G., Sleep,SAINT VITUS,BLUE CHEER,CATHEDRAL, IRON MONKEY, Misfits, Samhain, Danzig, RAMONES and many more merchants of Doom-Sludgecore-Hardcore-Stoner Rock-Punk-Grind-Death-Thrash-Blues and whatever else is thrown into the thickening mix of sound. No vocals were utilized in this cauldron of noise, no bassist was sought. After a long six month search, a drummer is added to this festering brand of Heavyweight Punk Metal. The name my friends ,was Thorn ( AKA. T ). With enforcement added, AMPSONTWELVE then took their passion for all that is heavy (be it punk, metal or whatever else the recipe calls for) and moved forward with a bravery to go against the grain of mainstream thinking. In an area where most are into either classic rock(of the generic sort) or Screamo(the current flava), AMPSONTWELVE strike most as a shrill blend of sludge ridden motor oil that brings most motors to a stand still.
Phaze one has now been completed and phaze two has begun!! Co-founding guitarist Ron Wind along with drummer Tony(THORN) Frascone both officially departed the group on October 24th of '08, following their final gig with the group, the prophetic " A NIGHTMARE IN CASS LAKE" , which took place on October 18,2008.Upon this departure and with much prayer and consideration, AMPSONTWELVE will now continue as a two piece in an effort to keep all things simple. Furthermore the opportunity is now here for the transition from an instrumental format, into application of a Christ centered foundation in an area of music untouched by such a message.Remaining original member and founder Donnie L. Johnson will now handle vocals in addition to the riffs. On November 24,2008 Donnie practiced with Brett Hanson on drums for the first time. An instant bond was formed as the two had known each other for aprox. three and a half years, having met while attending a former church. While music is a purpose on its own, the greater connection is the brotherhood in Christ which is supported and further expanded through this fellowship.Ampsontwelve had been working on songs for a hopefull E.P., until life put these plans on hold. Brett is now on hiatus while he recovers from back surgury. We ask for your continued prayers for Brett as well as family whose support has been a blessing. Turn it up brothers and sisters ... if it's too loud ... you're dead!
Happy belated New Year's fellas !!! Really dig your sound and the You Tube vid of your first gig !!! Hail to the Peavey Windsor !!!! Wish MN was just a bit closer... Here's To Doom in 2010 !!!!!!

The dynamics are an interesting comment. I have noticed that different guitars respond differently to downtuning. I had a Washburn that hated B-B tuning - sounded like ass. I have a Gibson V setup C#-C# that is marginal and a Gibson SG B-B that is amazing. The SG has all of the detailed characteristics you want of the notes and really sounds good clean or dirty. Using EMG's 81/85 with it.
The amp at some point or loudness must play in as well.
