AMRIT is perhaps the most explosive of Khanjira artists in the present WorlD. He has achieved undisputed heights in the Art of Khanjira (Kanjira or Kanjeera). His TechniquE, SpeeD, MusicaL KnowledgE, IntellecT and unique PresentatioN style keeps audiences spellbound across barriers of geography and music. A rare blend of 'Classicism' and 'breath-taking power' characterises every performance of his, leaving an everlasting impact on the listener. He attributes these to the blessings of his Revered GURU and KHANJIRA MAESTRO SRI G.HARISHANKAR. Staunchly following his teacher's footsteps and style of playing, Amrit has gained an unparalleled mastery over the KHANJIRA.
BIO
Amrit Nataraj was born in 1977. His father Basavanagudi Sri. G. Nataraj is a renowned Violinist.
He started learning Mridangam under the tutelage of Vidwan SRI M. VASUDEVA RAO in 1983 at the age of five.
Currently pursuing Mridangam Training under Vidwan SRI A.V. ANAND.
He had Khanjira training under "KHANJIRA MAESTRO" Vidwan SRI G. HARISHANKAR at Chennai.
He has also learnt violin under his father Vidwan BASAVANAGUDI SRI G. NATARAJ.
An ‘A’ Grade artist in AIR for Khanjira and ‘B – High’ Grade in AIR for Mridangam.
He started performing at the age of 8 . From then on he is performing with all Top artists of the country in major sabhas & Music festivals both in India and abroad. He has been giving performances in All India Radio, Doordarshan, E TV, Udaya TV, Zee TV, Jaya TV, Vijay TV, Raj TV and many other popular channels. He has featured in many National Level Festivals, Percussion Ensembles, Jugal Bandhi s, Lecture Demonstrations, Fusion Concerts, Audio CDs, Cassettes and Films. He has composed and conducted many musical and fusion projects. He has been teaching a lot of students around the world, about various aspects of Carnatic Music. He is associated to many cultural Organizations too. A Bachelor of Science (PCM), Amrit has dedicated his life to Music.

Represented the Government of India as a cultural Ambassador From the INDIAN COUNSIL FOR CULTURAL RELATIONS {I.C.C.R.} for a concert tour in the FIJI ISLANDS along with Smt.Saraswathi Rajagopalan (Delhi) in July 2006.
Conducted a Lecture Demonstration Clinic on ‘Khanjira’ in the Percussive Arts Society International Convention PASIC 2007, organized by the Percussive Arts Society in Columbus, Ohio in November 2007.
Performed at Chicago World Music Festival 08, Madison World Music Festival 08, Global Union Fest Milwaukee, Symphony Space (New York), Painted Bride Arts Center (Philadelphia), Arizona State University and many more.
Conducted Workshops & Lecture Demonstrations at Berkley School of Music (Boston), Arizona State University.
Toured Abu Dhabi & United Kingdom with Guru Sri Kariakudi R. Mani & Sri T.M Krishna in March 2009.

Awarded with the “ANANYA YUVA PURASKARA”, annual youth award for the year 2003 for excellence in the field of Khanjira , by Ananya GML Cultural Academy.
Awarded with the “CMANA PRIZE - 2004”, instigated by Carnatic Music Association of North America, for eminent outstanding Young Professional artists, given by the Percussive Arts Centre Bangalore.
Awarded as “SALLARI GANA LAYA VITTHGAR” by Sri Ramani Guruji of Sri Ganapathi Temple (Chennai)in the year 2005.
Awarded as “YUVA KALA BHAARATI” by Bharath Kalachar (Chennai), in the year 2006.
