10/25/09 Special note: Thanks for checking out my website! Just a note to let everyone know that I am expecting a baby any day now! I'll be on maternity leave for the rest of the year, and back at it for a fabulous New Year's Eve gig at the Brown Palace with John Kite and some of Denver's very best swingers. In the new year I'll be back at Vic's and all the other usual places, so do keep an eye out and come by when you can! Thanks for your support!
Bio: Amy Biondo is a vocalist specializing in jazz, Latin, and swing, available for private and public events and studio recording projects of all kinds. When she was four years old, Amy wrote in a Dr. Seuss book that she wanted to be a singer when she grew up. And that’s what happened. Amy first connected with music performance in the musical theater scene in Pennsylvania, where she grew up, and also danced in a modern dance company in Davis, California. But eventually jazz came knocking and it's been a mad, mad love affair ever since! Delving headfirst into the American jazz tradition ignited a passionate curiosity about many other different musical styles, leading Amy to study Bossa Nova, French jazz classics, Mexican folk songs, the Afro-Cuban tradition, bluegrass, and classic and contemporary pop/rock. While she's given up singing show tunes, she has been known to occasionally throw in a tap dance after the bass solo, for old time's sake. She's also currently addicted to singing jazz and bluegrass renditions of Raffi's "Bananaphone." Amy has studied voice, music theory, and contemplative music performance with many fabulous and inspiring teachers, including Art Lande, Ethie Friend, Mark Miller (all of Naropa University), Donna Wickham (Denver University) and Keith MacDonald. But she's found that the best training of all has been finding ways to fall in love with the world again and again, and to let the beauty of this joy and heartbreak touch others through the music. Amy currently sings with Sundays at Vic's (jazz) (www.sundaysatvics.com), The Ricardo Pena Quartet (Latin), and Milestone (rock and Latin rock) (www.ricardopena.net). She also freelances with various characters around town. Several years ago, a friend told me that I was about to meet the coolest girl in the world, ever. A few minutes later, Amy showed up. Before the end of the evening, I was pretty well convinced. Luckily for her, her voice is equally appealing. Good luck.... ps. We've gotta get you on a track.
