i really enjoyed listening to your songs. music is definitely the best way to work out the emotions too deep and abstract for words alone. i feel exactly the same way. writing music is the only way i can really work through the overcoming emotions of life. keep it up.

Hi Amy,

Thanks for adding me.

I lost my Grandfather nearly 10 years ago. People say that the pain lessens, but I think we just learn how to divert it, to deal with it. Just this morning I was making food for my baby, Alexander, and he started giggling and looking at empty space. I'd heard it said that sometimes soul's come back into our lives, seen by children, but oft unseen by jaded adult eyes. I thought of that and it made me smile. Then I starting thinking, "why can't he be here?" and the torrent of tears came. So sure, I think it may appear that the pain lessens, but really it is merely in a pit somewhere inside of us, sometimes bubbling forth. I suppose the best solution is to embrace the pain as a necessary stipulation of life.

Lesson one:

"The magic-maker imputes omnipotence to the world in which technique is unavailing, useless, the world of inscrutable, indomitable forces that control chance. The making of magic does indicate a stubborn seeking after practical results, but it also signifies the acknowledgement of a hierarchy of values: in it, the sacred stands above the profane, the disorders precipitated by desire above reasonable right-acting, luck above humble merit, and the end above the means. Man, in his status of the worker, of the technician, is by and large reduced to the size of the means whose end is the animal being, never subject to work, never technically skilled. Otherwise phrased, profane activity is the means whose end is the sacred moment: from the start, the human's innermost meaning was the divine."
G. Bataille, Lascaux or the Birth of Art, 1955
