Amy Cook weaves the sounds of alt folk, pop, Americana, and rock and roll into a "moody and kick-ass" (Velvet Park) canopy of sound. She'll release her latest full-length record, Let the Light In, produced by Alejandro Escovedo, in early 2010. Let the Light In features backing from Patty Griffin, and the Tosca String Quartet, and a co-writing credit with Ben Kweller.
Amy Cook: The Spaces in Between, a 2009 documentary directed by Todd Robinson, followed Cook touring her last record, The Sky Observer's Guide (2007).
Before moving to Austin, Cook was a part of the Los Angeles music scene where she was a frequent performer at Hollywood's Hotel Cafè, a venue that became well known for establishing the careers of many singer-songwriters. She's featured on Live at the Hotel Cafè, Volume 1.
Cook composed and performed the music for the 2000 Emmy award-winning documentary "Amargosa" and has contributed music to several popular television shows such as "Dawson's Creek", "Laguna Beach", "Veronica Mars", "Felicity" and "The L Word."
Cook's 2005 album The Bunkhouse Recordings, was recorded in Marfa and released on Leisha Hailey's label, Marfa Records. Her other recordings include The Firefly Sessions and From the 52nd Story.
Keep up with Amy on the road on Twitter (thebreakdancer) and youtube. Thanks for listening.
"Amy Cook, a singer-songwriter from L.A. who transplanted herself to Austin a few years ago, writes songs that are both tenderly personal and exquisitely meandering, acoustic songs tempered with shimmery electric guitars, all steel and wah-wah pedal."

"...It's likely plenty of people will be listening to Cook's forthcoming Let The Light In, especially given the participation of glam-billy hero Alejandro Escovedo and reformed grunge kid Ben Kweller — who pitched in with production and co-writing duties, respectively — and the edition of the esteemed Tosca String Quartet, which backs her here."
