Amy Suzanne Hough was born on April 21, 1981 to Thomas and Kristina Hough somewhere called The Valley in the urban sprawl stretch of Los Angeles, California. Amy was singing as soon as she could speak, entertaining the neighbors with Madonna and Debbie Gibson covers. She attended a private Catholic school, where at 10 years old, she performed her first vocal solo, The Wind Beneath My Wings, in the schools talent show. Amy began to develop her skills as a vocalist by taking private lessons, and through her vocal coach could be found once a month singing old jazz standards with a live band at the local coffee shop, Java N Jazz. In high school Amys social life existed in the form of music and theatre. She joined Hart High Schools award-winning show choir Sound Vibrations, a tight-knit group of performers that allowed her to become more confident on stage, and also introduced her to the art of dance. She developed her skills as a choreographer and worked as assistant choreographer for the showchoirs at John Burroughs High School in Burbank, California. She also developed an interest for musical theatre. Amy entered the theatre department at University of Santa Barbara, California in 1999. Realizing that her true passion is music, Amy took the advice of a former dance coach and founded the a capella group Naked Voices on the Santa Barbara campus. Naked Voices covers popular and contemporary songs and has proved to be a huge success in California, winning competitions, awards and becoming a prestigious group in the a capella world. In 2002-2003, Amy left for a year and studied music and theatre at the well-known DAMS department at the University of Bologna in Italy. Due to the extremely cold winter she began to develop her skills on the guitar and begin writing her own songs and turning journal entries into poetry. She and fellow exchange student Anthony Porter, a pianist and composer, discovered a complimentary musical style and collaborated on several musical projects which cummulated in two very well-received concerts. Amy continues to develop as a solo artist and completed her first album of original work, Synaesthesia, in the summer of 2004. Amy now lives and works in Bologna as an actress, musician and English teacher, and she is currently working on her next album. Traveling, photography, writing, languages, nature, and random adventures are some of Amy's other passions. Amy's little sister Lindsay makes her very proud by following in her musical footsteps, attending the Berklee School of Music in Boston on scholarship for her amazing voice. Amy's dream is to convince her sister and all of her artist and musician friends to emmigrate with her to Berlin where they would be inspired to create the most earth-shaking piece of music ever.
