Amy Sullivan emerged on the D.C. music scene in 2004 singing with singer/songwriter Ben Hulan. She recorded harmony vocals on three tracks of Bens debut record The Present Plays and soon became a core member of his band Sugar Grove (www.sugargroveband.com) , a bluegrass/Americana group . In early 2006 Sugar Grove went bi-coastal, after Bens move to California, which slowed down the bands show schedule. However, the distance opened up room for Amy to find her own voice as a singer/songwriter.
Amy had written a couple of songs before 2006, but with more time on her hands, she began writing songs with a ferocity and passion that was surprising even to her. Amys desire to stand on her own two feet as a singer/songwriter inspired her to take guitar and songwriting lessons with Shane Hines of Shane Hines and the Trance (www.shanehines.com) to help hone her craft. Shanes soulful approach to songwriting, his instinctual sense of killer melodies and grooves, not to mention his passion on stage have been (and continue to be) huge influences on Amys journey on the musical road.
Recently, Amy has teamed up with friend and Nashville songwriter Donna Britton, and the duo have been writing some kickin songs for the country music market.
Amys debut record All This Time was released in July 2007. Recorded and produced by Kevin Gutierrez at Assembly Line Studios in Vienna, Virginia, All This Time is a collection of lyrically driven, original alt. country songs. Amy solicited the help of many of her musical friends to bring their talent to her music. Some of the featured musicians playing on All This Time: Ben Hulan, Shane Hines, Andy Zipf, Kevin Gutierrez, Loston Harris, Kevin MacIntire, Ann Marie Calhoun, Fletch Wiley, and many more. Amy is currently working with Shane Hines on her second album due out next year sometime.
