Amy Kohn is a pianist, accordionist and singer who's imaginative music is heard via contemporary classical artists (Ethel String Quartet, Pianist Guy Livingston) to Italian children’s theater (Fantaghiro’) to innovative US and European radio (BBC Radio 3 and 6, WNYC, Netherlands’ Concertzender and others). In the past year and half, she’s performed her music in tandem with Italian pianist Debora Petrina (NientAltroKeDonne) and solo at festivals throughout Italy and Croatia including UBI Jazz, Woma Jazz, Festival Segnali All’Orizzonte, and FoPA. She leads her 7-piece band to NY venues such as Joe’s Pub and the Issue Project Room. In 2006, Amy released her last album, I’m in Crinoline, and she’s working on the next, extra-lustrous one, with songs about fake airplane-sex, orange-shaped heartache, Brazilian neon, and L.E.D lights. She is honored to be a featured singer, along with Chaka Khan and Norah Jones, on a CD and DVD of legendary Producer Arif Mardin’s music, coming out this year. Amy Kohn è una pianista, fisarmonicista e cantante la cui musica immaginativa viene ascoltata attraverso artisti contemporanei (il quartetto d'archi Ethel, il pianista Guy Livingston) o in onda su innovative stazioni radio americane ed europee (BBC Radio 3 e 6, Resonance Radio, speciale live alla WNYC Spinning on Air, Netherlands’ Concertzender e altre). Nell'ultimo anno ha suonato la sua musica in solo e in tandem con la pianista Debora Petrina in vari festival italiani e croati tra cui UBI Jazz, Woma Jazz, Geni Musicali e al Festival of Performing Arts a Pola (Croazia). Amy dirige la sua band di 7 componenti suonando nei locali di New York come Joe's Pub e Issue Project Room. - The project was about trying to explore different poetry styles, always with different instrumentations and musical structures because I don't want to repeat a single one - An album not directly linked to the four previous ones, but with the impossible to avoid come back to fetish themes - Second Life is about the technological phenomena, but I got better things to do with my life than spending it on the clone of a capitalist society - We might as well hope for a real bankrupcy for all of us, it would be worth it to kill capitalism
