A unique blend of folk and jazz with honest, bold lyrics, the Amy Phillips Trio is taking the singer/songwriter to the next level. A 2006 John Lennon Songwriter finalist, Amy’s lyrics relate to everyone in the crowd. Her body of work is inspired by Ani DiFranco, Janis Joplin, Regina Spektor, and all female song-writers who have come before. Adding color to the group is up and coming saxophonist Chris Felts, who brings influence from John Coltrane, David Sanborn, Lenny Pickett, and Michael Brecker. New to the group is percussionist Zach Larabee, who adds grooves that keep the crowd dancing. Hailing from Oshkosh, the Amy Phillips Trio released its first album in March of 2007 to great acclaim. The group is working on an EP that will be released sometime in January. This group plays regularly at Cranky Pats, Water City Grill, and open mics and battle of the bands all over Northeastern WI. Set list includes original songs as well as music by Janis Joplin, Blues Traveler, Radiohead, Dave Matthews, Willy Nelson, Ani Difranco, Regina Spektor, and Van Morrison.
