Amy Thompson

About me:

Amy (Swift) Thompson, I was born in Texas in 1972. I moved to Wichita Kansas in 1987 and attended Wichita Southeast High where I met my future husband Mike Thompson (currently the drummer for 45RPM). I always had a love of music. I played the piano all thru elementary and Jr. High school. I was in choir in Jr. High and High School and decided that vocal music was my passion. I attended Wichita State University for music education. After meeting a music therapist I abandoned my music Ed plans and moved to Lawrence with Mike and attended The University of Kansas for music Therapy. In 1993 I married Mike. Then life took over and my plans for school had to be changed. Rebecca was born in 1994 and Matthew in 1996. I was a stay at home mom for a while then held a variety of part-time jobs. Daniel was then born in 2002. I began singing with the Praise Band at the Lawrence Free Methodist Church in 2004. Mike met Jeremy Butcher and they formed The BLT Band in 2004. To give me something to do during shows Mike bought some stage lights and controller and I became known as the light lady. I also took photos for the band, and did some back up singing from time to time. I enrolled at Haskell Indian Nations University in Jan. of 2007, for Media Communications. I began learning sound from the sound engineers at the Lawrence Free Methodist Church and joined their media team, where I am in charge of stage lighting for the children’s programs. When 45 RPM formed I came along for the ride. I run their lighting and sing some back-up. So that is that, and we will see where it goes from here!
