/////"I wrote this review on a napkin wrapped around a bottle of beer. Amy liked it. That message should convey the type of show that Amy plays and the type of person Amy is. I've seen the Amy Wallace band play to a crowd of rusted barbies and burnt out magicians, I've seen her play to a crowd of sorority girls. All seemed to find an intimate connection with the music.
Amy personifies the image of an authentic Austin musician. She battles through University during the day and finding the stage by night, ready to rock and then roll out for another gig. A hard working musician with the kind of passionate playing and organic vocals that make you want to relate to her songs.
The band does a solid job of representing the folk rock genre, providing solid lyrics with the occasional and fully appropriate electric guitar solo. The recent adoption of a fiddle player has brought the band to a nice balance, providing the rock band experience with a bit of country sophistication. " Review by Tim Myers of Austinlivemusic.com/////
"Despite her young age, Wallace sings with a voice beyond her years in a style that harkens back to the great female folk singers of the 1960's. Wallace typically draws a crowd of young fans, and if she keeps playing, she should not have any problem gaining notoriety." Review by Jane Obrien./////
After moving from Midland, Texas to Austin in 2004 to attend the University of Texas, Amy Wallace has developed much more than just a collegiate background. Her main distraction from school was the Austin music scene of which she would soon be a part. It didn’t take long for the college community to discover this unqiue singer/songwriter with lasting potential. It was then, after a following began emerging, that Amy Wallace hit the stage at some of the most well-known and well-respected venues in Austin ranging from Antone’s, to The Saxon Pub, to Momo’s on 6th. It wasn’t too soon after that Amy released her first self-titled EP (with Catapult Distributors, distributed to iTunes, Rhapsody, Napster, emusic, Virgin Online, Independentbands.com, etc.) that allowed her music to disperse beyond Austin to places as far as Alaska, New York, California, and throughout Europe. After the release, Amy’s music continued to spread which prompted the recording of her first fully-produced album, Behind Brown Eyes, which took her from the stage and into the studio. After the completion of the album in the Summer of 2007, it’s scheduled release is set for early Fall 2007 (available at most online stores and locally at Waterloo Records).
Since returning to Austin from Wyoming and Los Angeles, Amy has been recently been seen on stage at several venues including The Saxon Pub, Momo's, Hanover's and ABIA opening for acts such as Austin's own, Monte Montgomery and Patrice Pike.
When Amy is not performing, writing, or in the studio, Amy spends most of her time in the outdoors cycling, mountain biking, or trail running.
