Started her career as a pop and rock singer back in the 80s and later become interested mainly in classic music and some other forms of experimentalism in music and singing. At the age of nine begun studying in the Conservatorium of Lisbon and also in other music and artistic schools that increased her desire to have a deeper engagement in arts. Studied with João Mota, Àgueda Sena, Margarida D’Abreu, Graça Morais, Ana Mascolo, Helena Pimentel, Liliana Bizineche, Joana Silva, Maria João Serrão, Ileana Cotrubas, Magda Olivero, Rolando Panerai, Paolo Washington. Nevertheless the singer considers herself an autodidact although having been studying with many Portuguese and Italian masters. Composes and produces her own records and gives concerts all over the country and abroad, performing classical/lyrical music and contemporary one. Machine Lyrique, edited in December 2006, with songs of Kurt Weill and Boris Vian have opened up new territories in her artistic endeavour and now with La Luna the singer works out her kaleidoscopic possibilities.

La Luna, brings together a personal selection of art songs from Bellini, Donizetti and Rossini under the main theme of the moon as the title clearly suggests. However, not all the songs narrate events connected with the moon which would weary the theme and the argument, so to speak. The main interest in the selection of these songs was somehow impressionist in choosing particular poems, rhythms or melodies that have a strong feeling for emotion and for that curious sensation of lifting one’s heart, typical of the best works of art.
Popular rhythms and dances recur with frequency (la tarantella, Spanish pulsation, Neapolitan beats) as well as Neapolitan and Venetian dialect forms (Me voglio fa’ na casa, La regata veneziana) that confer a special theatrical drive to the songs. Bellini, the expressionist of emotions, creator of the sublime melody, pathos, who knows, of a precocious death, is a counterpoint to the energy and the absolute delight of the rossinean spirit. As Stendhal in La vie de Rossini says: “we felt ourselves transported… each new part would drive us to the most pure chants and singing, to the most sensuous melodies. Suddenly we found ourselves almost near a delicious garden…”.

Allo Allo =) yes the novel is on a back-burner. It's about a boy and his mum, the boy gets into adventures with a group of kids in the country, sort of cross between Indiana Jones and Famous Five. I'm drawing on my experience as a potter AND my interest in history and archaeology. There was also a book on great stomach/liver friendly food for the person wanting to stay on the workforce for longer... happy food =) I'm just so busy with being a mum (my son is growing up), my full-time arts study AND the almost full-time permissions editor work with a huge educational publisher (glad they are huge, it means they're likely to ride the world economic storm because education is being seen as part of the solution) hugs and it's great to hear back from you. xx
