Sounds Like
Sarah McLaughlin meets Tracy Chapman meets Tori Amos they all have a pillow fight and end up with Anafaith's unique sound playing under the sheets.
Sometimes Natalie Merchant gets under the blankets too...
Anafaith likes organic dark chocolate, re-writing fairy tales to give them unpredictable, wild endings and lacy things. Don't try to talk to her in the mornings or mess with her during a yoga class. Her voice frequently gets compared to Ben Harper, Tracy Chapman and Natalie Merchant. Anafaith believes the best way both to sing and to live is "filled with soul". Besides singing and songwriting Anafaith also writes for AfterEllen.com and is doing many other writing endeavors. She is - of course- working on a play, hopefully to be completed in 2007.

Friday, January 18, 8 pm LA PEÑA CULTURAL CENTER 3105 Shattuck Avenue, Berkeley, CA www.lapena.org
Songs of love and protest, from both sides of the border. Mexico-born MAMACOATL brings her passion for life and justice as she takes us across the line, reducing walls to rubble and creating new paradigms in bolero, blues and funk ranchero. Acclaimed Berkeley songwriter STEVE TAYLOR-RAMÍREZ offers his acoustic soul, neo-folk and Latin roots with songs of love and rebellion. Classically trained Mexican guitarist ALFREDO GOMEZ brings Nueva Trova to life as he sings of love and its absence, sadness and joy … and releases his new CD.
$10 in advance/$12 at the door ($2 off for students and seniors)
