Analog was a metalcore band formed in Omaha in 2000 by brothers Jason and Mark Rabuck following the breakup of Jacob's Well. Jason recruited Paul Pettit and Beau Curtis, formerly of Eyecore.
Analog was heavily influenced by Omaha metalcore band System Failure, as well as Zao, Spitfire and UnEarth. Their sound was initially very simple, heavy and repetitive, later evolving into a much more brutal southern rock/metal style.
The band spent most of 2000 and 2001 developing their sound, playing small shows outside of Omaha and re-arranging band members in different roles. At one time Paul played guitar with Beau and Mark on vocals. Their first album, Segments of a Stolen Heart, a four song EP, was released independently in 2001, and featured Paul (Vocals), Beau (Guitar), Mark (Bass) and Jason (Drums). It was followed in 2002 by an independently released split EP with omaha indie rock band Names Without Numbers. Dustin Treinen and Nick Tang replaced Beau Curtis on guitar for this album..
In 2003, with Tavis Whitesell replacing Mark Rabuck on bass, Analog released their only full length album, The Contention, on Imagine It Records. They toured the midwest and southern parts of the US in support of the album including stops at Cornerstone Music Festival and Furnace Fest.
Analog released their final album, The Youngest of Martyrs EP, in 2004. This hand-pressed/printed EP was released on Imagine It records in a very limited number (estimated around 500). Paul and Jason, the only original members still remaining, decided to leave the band in October of 2004. Their final show was October 8th, 2004. Nick Tang left shortly there after, and the spots were filled by Josh S., Josh T., Jason W., Brad, and Bryce before the band disolved in Early 2006.
