Analog Velvet was born in the summer of 2002, when vocalist Alicia Burke--then singing lead with the Philadelphia Funk Authority--began writing and recording original songs with a few musician friends. After several personnel changes, the band lineup was eventually completed with the addition of Scott Kobal (drums), Nick Roberti (bass, keyboards, vocals), and Maury Rutch (guitar, vocals). Since its first public performance in November 2003 at the Icehouse in Bethlehem, Analog Velvet has kept busy playing a variety of venues from local bars to large clubs, from private parties to outdoor festivals.
Analog Velvet prides itself on blending in its music a high level of musicianship with a tunefulness easily accessible to the average listener. The band has released three CDs: 2004’s Medicine Wheels, 2006’s Tales from Podunk, and 2008's BOOM! Wow! What a show last night! You guys packed the house and really rocked! I'm loving the new songs! We had so much fun at the show. Unfortunately the piñata didn't make it out alive. It didn't stand much of a chance, being filled with candy goodness and all. (Then again, I think a decimated piñata is the sign of a great party!)
