Sounds Like
After being mercilessly made fun of because of my last description, to keep it simple, I will just say that people say it sounds like a bit of Sarah Harmer and a bit of Norah Jones.
As winner of the 2006 Songs from the Heart award and voted Ottawa's Best Singer/Songwriter in 04-05, Ana's reputation as a rising star has extended deeply into her musical opportunities: She has opened for Sarah Harmer, Jeremy Fisher, Teitur, Nathan Wiley, Fred Eaglesmith and Joel Kroeker. From living rooms to main stages, her smooth, melodic voice, fluid approach to guitar and on-stage banter warms the hearts of each audience she encounters.
"Easily one of the best, most haunting, confident voices I've heard in music today. Ana is the type of songwriter whose lyrics and melodies result in special moments unequalled by most." Mauler - The New HOT 89-9.
Ana Miura's songs captivate with folky inflections of jazz, pop, and rock. Beginning wiith a solid background in conservatory piano and vocal training from numerous choirs, as well as 4 year stint as percussionist in her high school's concert and jazz bands, Ana followed her heart and taught herself how to play guitar. By 19, she was addicted to performing and was playing regularly in bars, hallways and other public domains around Ottawa as well as Kingston, where she attended Queen€™s University.
Following her move from Kingston back to Ottawa, Ana decided to pursue a solo career with her already overwhelming collection of original compositions. Her metamorphosis into a singer/songwriter has exploded into many wonderful musical opportunities including the release of her debut EP, Tenacious Heart.
Based in Ottawa, Ontario, Ana has already toured the eastern US and Canada and plans to take her music to fans in western Canada and the US!
