Moved by mysticism and inspired by the journey of life, Anar Rajabali is a lyricist hailing from Vancouver, BC.
From the age of nine, with her first published poem Fear, Anar began her passion for the power of the written word and her natural talent for prose. Along with her love for writing and literature, came a deep, intense love for music as she began her training in violin.
But what really moved her was deep, soulful, lyrically driven music, music which took the listener on a journey to a different space and time. Influenced from the powerful and uplifting music of Earth, Wind and Fire, the devotional Qawwalis of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, the lyrical stylings of Bernie Taupin, The Eagles and Stevie Nicks, and the passion and sensuality of Neosoul, Anar has emerged as an upcoming lyricist infusing her sense of spirituality into intimate, provocative songs.
Her recent project has been collaboration with the singer/songwriter Yasmine, in which not only was Anar the lyricist on the album, but the creative director and visionary from conception to production. Inspired by Rumi poetry and Sufism, Anar has created an introspective musical experience in which each song is a journey, a story in itself. She wanted to move, to motivate, to inspire the listener to search within themselves to find strength, power, grace, revelation.
Working with great world musicians such as Pepe Danza and featuring the tabla, sitar, bansuri flute, djembe and udu, has created an innovative fusion of east meets west. Anars deep respect and passion for her craft truly resonate in this album titled Epiphany, and as many listeners and critics alike have stated, the lyrics are timeless.
