Another one of Peta's Banned TV Ads, this one releases footage of the hunters clubbing seals in Canada, be warned, it is pretty graphic footage. What people don't know realise about seal hunting, is that it is an off season activity run by the fishers, and only a minor amount of profit is made from seal hunting (Primarily from selling seal pelts on the European market). These fishers earn the majority of their income from seafood export, which is a billion dollar industry, in comparison to seal hunting which is dwarfed in comparison by bringing in a few million dollars. This connection between the commerical fishing industry and seal hunting gives consumers all over the world the power to stop such cruelty.

ANA SAYS: Although I have watched countless animal rights videos there is one that stands as the most disturbing footage I have ever seen. The above video explores the inner workings of a Chinese Fur Farm and the inhumane footage has prompted academic's and journalist's alike to denote such treatment as that of, "Concentration camp conditions", claiming it to be the, "Worst type of factory farming". Fashion giants who continue to use the products in their companies provide vague answers when probed about controversial issue, some even commenting that they like working with, "Death" associated with animal fur, as it makes their, "Pieces more interesting". The truth remains that millions of animals are subject to a life in captivity where many will become victim to diesease and cannibalism and then the day will come where they will be brutally electrocuted via anal probes and be skinned alive whilst still conscious. Is such a massacre and sacrifice of life worthwhile simply to provide such an unecessary luxury to a minority of grotesquely spoilt and status-obsessed women?

ANA SAYS: Convance Cruelty explores the highly topical issue of animal testing. Statistics have proved that a mere 5-20 % of the side effects predicted by medicines in animal testing are found to be accurate. Animal testing has continued for so long because it is much cheaper than its cruelty-free alternatives. How is it that animal rights are so quickly denied when they considered like enough to us to be tested on to gain accurate scientific results (And as humans we feel, "Rights" are a vital part of living in a humane soceity)- Yet these animals are then considered separate enough from the human race not to be deemed worthy of being granted any form of rights or welfare. I urge anyone who considers the issue of animal testing trivial to watch the above video and imagine that it is your dog/cat/bird/mouse/hamster/horse/snake, who is being attacked in the same way as animal in the convance cruelty video. Still Worth it?

hello my dearest Anna! Hope you are doing well! Sorry i have dropped off the planet for the last few weeks... hows uni and all the rest going 4 u? Im sure you're smashing all them assignments and exams. I have no idea what part of the semester it would be? Either way I hope all is well. I'm just about to begin my last week of prac! I've been teaching full time and finding it all good (stressful at times, but good!). EEEk, i have my final interview this week (Thurs) to get my rating,etc! I am pretty nervous but almost excited to just get it all done. I still have 4 weeks of internship after the school hols, but that'll be fine.
