The Holy Spirit is my major influence but other influences are Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, The Winans Family and India Arie. There are so many artist that I adore who have also influenced my singing/songwriting. Those artist are Ce Ce Winans, Luther Vandross, Kirk Franklin, Israel Houghton, Mariah Carey (ol' school), Yolanda Adams, Nicole C Mullins, Ayeisha Woods, Deniece Williams, Jennifer Hudson, Kelly Price, Mary Mary, Mary J Blige, Lauryn Hill, Beyonce, Crystal Lewis, Martha Munnizzi, John Legend, Janelle Monae, my best friends, and the legendary Mahalia Jackson.
I'm a Christian Singer/Songwriter that's passionate about uplifting the spirit of every person I meet. My music helps me do just that. My sound is considered Contemporary Gospel but it's a blend of pop, rock and soul. It's not really "my sound" though, because it's all inspired by the Holy Spirit of God.
I have been writing songs since I was a child. My sister and I would make up songs just for fun. I wrote my first inspirational song, "Just Keep On Tryin", when I was 12 years old. It was a simple song but it gave me the will to never give up on myself. I accepted the Lord Jesus at age 15 and joined the church choir, where I was first told that I had a good singing voice. I have written over 100 songs since. It wasn't until 2001 that I actually considered a career as a Christian singer/songwriter. A close friend of mine heard some of my songs and encouraged me to pursue this possibility. I started sharing my music with more people and received an unexpected vote of confidence from my family and peers. I took vocal lessons from another set of very talented close friends of mine, who studied music at my university. I sought God's will concerning this career change since I initially wanted to be a fashion designer and had studied fashion since I was nine years old. He sent people to give me confirmation after confirmation that singing/songwriting is what He wants me to do. Since then, I have ministered at several churches and college events. I also ministered to a crowd of over 500 in Port Harcourt and Lagos Nigeria.
