Les Hewitt: voice, guitar, keyboards, drums, percussion and computers.
Many More have been together as a band / duo since 1995 but Tony and Les were together in other bands before that.
Some of our previous bands are on the links page of our
Many More website:  Many More

The tracks are back to basics. Acoustic and electric guitars, bass, drums, percussion, piano and not many synthesizer sounds.

* = Tracks on MySpace.

The Many More tracks on MySpace are not the final mix or high quality versions.
So if you like the tracks please buy the finished versions from the following online stores:
iTunesAmazon MP3eMusicGroupieTunesRhapsody  Lala and  Napster

Please Note:
‘Many More’ play Rock, Pop and Folk music.
There is now a Reggae band calling
themselves ‘Many More’ but they're NOT us.

'Sunshine Holiday'
Em.. what can I say? It’s a song about a summer holiday (vacation to all you in the US). Sun, sea, sand and sex. I know the lyrics are a bit 'nice' but that's what I wanted!
I wrote the music back in the days of Margaret Thatcher, job losses, no money, miner’s strikes and people starving in Ethiopia! It started as a protest song but the music always seemed too jolly for such miserable lyrics. I always wanted to write happy lyrics for it but couldn’t get the originals out of my head.
It took me a while but finally I did it!

'One More Night In New York City'
He’s in New York, meets a girl, falls in love and doesn’t want to go home.
The track does have a line in it that I think may be taken the wrong way. The line in question has the words “Liberty‘s gaze” (i.e. look, stare or watch). It’s not about a bunch of people associated with Liberty Island! I didn’t notice the possible confusion until the end of the day during mixing. Too late to re-do the vocals. Besides I still like the original line. Although I don’t want to offend anyone.

'I Can’t Believe I Love You'
I was in a pub and was sat next to a woman who was quite rude and quite nasty about people. She looked a bit tarty but was stunning. The man she was with was obviously totally in love with her even though she was very mean to him.

By the time I’d walked home I’d already got one verse and a chorus so I recorded it by just singing and playing acoustic guitar into my computer mic and stomping on the floor for a bass drum effect. Two years later I decided to record it properly. There are bits of that one verse in the second verse of the new version now and the chorus is the same.

It’s a bit of a jolly song. Maybe too jolly but I like it because of the story. It sounds a bit strange because of the unusual guitar rhythms. I hope you like it.

'Luxury (Out Of Sight Out Of Mind)'
This is the latest version of this song. I wrote it a long time ago in the early 80’s. It’s had a few different incarnations, mainly because it means a lot to me. I thought I’d resurrect it because I’ve just seen on the news that people in Ethiopia are starving, again! Unbelievable. Anyone remember Band Aid?

'That’s Our World' *
It’s about a young woman and the ups and downs of her life. It’s a bit sad. It’s a bit rude (if you understand the lyrics). It's about going out, binge drinking, fighting and sex.

'I’m Going Down To Texas'
He’s a Yorkshire lad who’s met a Texan girl on MySpace and now he’s moving to Texas.
Texas Cowgirls Rule

'Waiting' *
It’s a bit different with an 80's feel!
The first version of this was recorded using only a 1970's Yamaha CS5 monophonic synthesizer and a Casio kids keyboard. Oh yes and a Roland TR606 drum sequencer. The, what I call ‘Lo Flying Synth’ sound on this new version is from that original 8 track recording of the CS5.

The music is calling, a message in rhyme
Uniform motions, socially fine
Voice in the distance, touching the state
Leaders in motion, throwing the bait

'Did I Tell You I Love You?'
He’s madly in love with a beautiful woman. He is talking about the first time they met. She is so beautiful; he was scared to talk to her. When she came over and talked to him they fell for each other there and then.
After they had been together for a while something happened and they split up but they still love each other. This is his attempt to get her back.
(This is probably the soppiest song I’ve ever written.)
Listen out for the Zinc Alloy type guitar solo after the third chorus.
The guitar solo is the bit where he’s pulling his hair out and going crazy with frustration.

'Suburban Man'
It's about someone trying to conform in a crazy world where only a few get to the top.
The solo represents the climb up to the top of the ladder, only to be pushed back down.

'So Lonely'
It’s got a Latin – Rock feel to it. Recorded, Sunday 16 December 2007.
The original version of this was a rock song written by Les.
Tony did some magic on it and turned it into a Latin – Rock track by adding all of the timbales, congas, and the second half of the guitar riff. Then he rearranged it into its present form.

'Save the Day'
In 3/4 time and is meant to be something to think about and listen to. So it is one of those tracks that grows on you. It's not meant to be in-your-face, repeating catch line chorus Pop.

'I Love You' *
Originally written to be the sound track music of a short DVD about the Apollo Moon landings. Later I wrote the lyrics for it and made it into a song.

'Enough'
He’s always been worried about the constant war mentality in the world. Throughout recorded history, every day there has been fighting somewhere on this planet. He’s also madly in love with a beautiful woman. A bittersweet state of mind.
Dismay and apprehension. Love and adoration.

'Soul Suite'
A cross between The Muppets and Hank Marvin. It’s a bit hypnotic because of the repetitive Muppet type singing with a slow acoustic guitar solo throughout that is also repetitive. (I resisted using the whammy bar like Hank does.)
Best listened to with headphones on and the CD player set to repeat track. Listen to it until your eyes turn into spinning spirals or until you need the loo or something.

'So This Is What Love Is'
(All I ever wanted was you in my life)
Boy meets girl. They fall in love. Girl then secretly finds another boy or two or more. He is broken hearted and tells her he doesn’t understand how little he must have meant to her. All the wonderful things they have been through together meant so much to him and nothing to her.
This is the ‘clean lyrics’ version. There is another version that is more ‘colourful’.

'Monolith'
Imagine a black, out of tune grand piano standing on it's own viewed from above like a block of solid stone. Slowly other instruments gather around it until eventually in the excitement the guitarist throws his bone shaped guitar in the air.
The piano starts it and other instruments slowly come in so that each part is recognisable in the crescendo of musical mayhem at the end.

'The Blue Nile'
Everything on this recording is new apart from the vocals and guitar.
They were taken from an old analogue 8-track tape recording made in 1989. After sampling the 8 tracks, each track was cut and pasted into new (digital) tracks.
I used the original arrangement but the instruments have changed.
Les (me) is singing lead and the high backing vocal on the left.
Tony is singing backing on the right. I’m not sure who was playing guitar.

'She Likes Cars [Parts 1 + 2]'
The first two parts of a three-part piece of music. Part 3 is with lyrics about a UK female TV presenter that is one of the hosts in a program about cars. I never finished it off because I couldn’t stop it from sounding corny.
E.g. ‘No traction control, she’s so rock and roll’. Mmm… do you see what I mean?

'Hold My Hand'
I wrote this song in about 1988. The original track was with brass and string sections. This time it’s back to basics and it’s just guitars and drums. It was quite difficult to convert the score for three trumpets and three violins in to chords you can play on a guitar. I’ve used the original voice tracks that I digitised from the ¼ inch 8 track tape. The vocals are very 80's so I may re-do them some day.

'Red Planet'
Me playing me organ!
I never really got into The Doors when I was a kid. So even though most people think of this as being a Doors type track, I just think of it as the type of music that was around in the 60’s played by a quite a few jazz bands.

'It's Christmas Time (Acoustic)'
This was first released in 2005. It had distorted electric guitar solos, piano, strings and heavy drums. This acoustic version is just vocals, guitars, bass, congas and drums. It’s a whole lot softer.

'Now She's Talking'
This version was recorded in 2007 but using the original vocals taken from the 8-track tape.
