Andrea Barnett is an award-winning singer/songwriter/pianist based in Melbourne, Australia. She embarked upon a music career in the 1990s, perfecting her performance craft at various original establishments (with inhouse pianos if she was lucky, otherwise lugging keyboard underarm) with financial assistance from a variety of cover band projects & dayjobs. In 2000 she staged the one woman cabaret show "Amazonian Lady" as part of the Melbourne Fringe Festival, and in 2001 won 1st prize in the National Australian Songwriter's Association Competition with her composition "When I Lived Alone". For much of the noughties she has focused on recording with her producer buddy Mark McSherry, one result being the album "Loose Ends", an eclectic collection of musical musings on the delights and despair of contemporary urban life infused with country lament. Andrea was again honoured by the Australian Songwriter's Association with two top ten placings in the country and contemporary categories of their 2008 national songwriting competition, and a nomination for the Rudy Brandsma award for songwriting excellence. Pregnancy and early motherhood have delayed an album launch which is now scheduled for early February 2010 .......
