Andrea Carlson's new album, "Drivin' Myself Wild For You" , takes you on magical journey through songs of love and life. This award-winning singer/songwriter from Philadelphia may echo 30s and 40s jazz and blues, but she brings to it a new point of view stamped with her own unique sound and style. For a long time she lived in Chicago where she first studied Fine Art at Columbia College. Mid way through her pursuit, she switched her major Classical Guitar, and received a BM from the American Conservatory of Music. But! She also loved to sing…namely, jazz! Throughout her studies she moonlighted as a vocalist with several different bands doing music from the 20s, 30s, and 40s. This continued for 10 years, and she was able to perform in many of the top venues and festivals. A true highlight was opening for the one only James Brown! When moving to Philadelphia she began to perform solo with her classical guitar, singing and playing all the jazz standards that she loved. But more and more, she found herself writing extra lyrics to the songs, and sought new ways to arrange them to feel like her own. One day it occurred to her to start writing her own songs! Not long into her new venture she entered a contest with the Philadelphia Songwriters Project. She was a winner that year for their 2009 song writing contest! Since then she has been performing regularly a variety of venues in the Philadelphia area and New York, as well as New Jersey and Chicago. Highlights have been the Kimmel Center Summer Solstice, Bethlehem MusikFest, Beta Hi-Fi Festival at World Café Live and the Philadelphia Folk Festival. She has has also been featured on several radio shows including WCHE with host Charlie Silvestri. Her new album was made at Morning Star Studios with the Grammy award-winning engineer and producer Glenn Barratt. He teamed her up with the most talented musicians of Philadelphia to draw attention to the feel and character of Andrea Carlson's music. The result is none less than stunning. Whether you are in an intimate setting of Andrea performing solo or at a larger venue with full band, her songs, voice and guitar will take you on a journey….and you'll be Drivin' Youself Wild for her!
