Tom Waits, Patti Smith, PJ Harvey, Neko Case, underground West Coast hip hop (much love to my Vancouver boys!), Saul Williams, Lauren Bacall, The Cure, The Pixies, Tupac, Jill Scott, Leonard Cohen, Nick Cave, The Organ, The Editors, Interpol, Prince, Joni Mitchell, Nina Simone, She Wants Revenge, The Raconteurs, Bill Withers, Franz Ferdinand...music is the heartbeat.
Andrea Grant a.k.a. "The Pin-Up Poet" has had more than 150 articles, poems and photos published internationally. She is the creator of the striking new comic book series ‘Andrea Grant’s MINX’ which merges Native American mythology with clever contemporary fantasy, exploring such themes as the duality of human nature and the thin line between dreams and reality. She also plays the character Minx.
Ms. Grant is an accomplished artist known for a unique melding of poetry, photography, collage, 3D paintings, spoken word audio recording, video, and live performance which creates a dynamic expression that can be understood on many levels. Her work explores themes such as irony, mythology, and the contradictions of modern womanhood and are infused throughout with allegorical humor. She’s already been the subject of three documentaries.
She is a renowned model known for her specialized work in the pin-up and film noir style, attracting high profile clients such as Camel Cigarettes.
Ms. Grant is the founder of Copious Amounts Press, the publishing house that has produced a variety of limited edition art books and multimedia projects since 2001. In addition to ‘The Pin-Up Poet’ art books and several Minx spin-off projects, she will soon be launching a postmodern re-telling of Grimm's Fairytales in poetry form illustrated by pop artist Justin Hampton., a collection of Goddess poems illustrated by Liza Biggers, and a graphic novel-style memoir called ‘Bleach.’
Notorious for merging intellect with provocation she has silenced smoky bars with her throaty voice and commanding presence. Want Some Scratch? is an album that tells entertaining stories, mixing mythology and the tragi-comedy of human emotion with jazz and hip hop beats produced by The Stylust and Vago.
Think Tom Waits meets Saul Williams with a little Lauren Bacall smokiness...

Sat back, silence hummed, and my gaze soared across the bay Sun caught on the horizon, thoughts stimulate, and gone the day I'm here, with her – we sit, and laugh, watch, and sway No more beautiful a scene, and I know these feelings aren't going away
Photographic post-silver-halide taken paired with light -- Captured. Not only that, but us, this, what it truly is, and I, write.
Days like this don't happen we think, like a perfect pillow fight.
Tents drawn, I tackle, we laugh again, can't help but think its right.
The night continues and we decide to take a walk… Staying in sight of the fire, we all the sudden are post-ad-hoc We, not lit, slowly walk, hearts race, and we find that old dock She gives me that look, I walked to the end, and she hit me like a rock
Tackled back, wind knocked, thoughts of that – indicative of growing up together, long time, no talk, those years dreamed of I think of more, or less, of that, t0his – perhaps I am unworthy of All I know is that I know of no other words to describe that of-

stories of triumph escape from being captured - soul within piercing eyes gazing skyward, silence beacons and it, begins heavenly sight given, an angelic face graces, both that and the one therein and alas we have a molded glistening element with the name of Gwendolyn
transcendental light, illuminating the hazened sky, kept, our minds rewind ahistorical reference, her, if she, those lips could speak, words maligned a sun-found seraph caught here among the cumulous sphere, we found - kind and visage found fallen, beauty finding us, although searching, intertwined.
lastly here I stand heart racen – in that in which we many do not see paradigm shifted, and I, quite lifted, with memory for once without a fee
happiness defined in that of moments, here, I alas, have found one kept, this is one I share with you, I have, and now, the day is. done.
