Andrea Lombardini is one of the most original European bass players. In his early twenties he recorded twice with “Randomania” together with Blue Note artist Gianluca Petrella, Roberto Cecchetto and ECM artist U.T.Gandhi. His project as a leader, “ALt” (Andrea Lombardini Trio), won the national jazz contest of Baronissi in 2002 and recorded the year after. ALt is an open trio setting that had featured Michele Polga, Pietro Tonolo, Paolo Birro, Roberto Rossi and Michael Blake. Now Alt performs with Phil Mer on drums and Dan Kinzelman on sax. In 2004 Andrea won the International contest for bass players Euro Bass Day playing in front of, among others, Anthony Jackson, Daryl Jones, Matt Garrison, Mike Pope. In 2006 he recorded in the US “ALT88” with Bob Gullotti, drummer from the Fringe, and the new rising star of piano Leo Genovese. He is also active with the trio “Chiamalo” with Tolo Marton, the greatest rock-blues Italian player and co leader with “Caffeine”, a power guitar trio with MusicMan artist Daniele Gregolin. Andrea’s last projects are the “Broken Band”, a 5tet with some of the most talented Italian and European jazz players playing original compositions and “The Plug”, an acoustic/electric trio with Gianluca Petrella on trombone and Giovanni Giorgi on drums.
He attended clinics and masterclasses at the Berklee College of Music, Siena Jazz, EuroMeet/New School and with jazz greats Lee Konitz and Steve Swallow. He has a degree in philosophy with thesis in musical esthetics from Padova University and in jazz music from the Italian Conservatory of Castelfranco.
Andrea Lombardini è uno dei più originali bassisti elettrici europei. Esordisce poco più che ventenne con i Randomania, insieme a Gianluca Petrella, Roberto Cecchetto e U.T.Gandhi, la band riceve ottimi consensi e registra due dischi. Il suo progetto da leader, ALT (Andrea Lombardini Trio), col quale vince il concorso di Baronissi nel 2002 e registra un disco l'anno seguente, è una band a formazione variabile incentrata sulle proprie angolari composizioni, suonano in ALT Michele Polga, Pietro Tonolo, Paolo Birro e Roberto Rossi. Nel 2004 vince il concorso internazionale per bassisti Euro Bass Day. Due anni dopo registra in USA ALT88, con Bob Gullotti, batterista e fondatore dei Fringe, e il nuovo talento internazionale del pianoforte Leo Genovese. Degna di nota anche la formazione Chiamalo, trio rock-jazz con Tolo Marton, il massimo esponente della chitarra rock-blues italiana. Il suo ultimo progetto, Andrea Lombardini Broken Band, è quintetto costituito da alcuni dei migliori giovani musicisti italiani e presenta composizioni originali del leader.
Ha seguito seminari e masterclass al Berklee College of Music, Siena Jazz, EuroMeet/New School e con i musicisti Lee Konitz e Steve Swallow. E’ laureato in filosofia con tesi in estetica musicale e attualmente è laureando in jazz presso il Conservatorio Steffani di Castelfranco, TV
