MySpace Backgrounds
.. As a 3rd generation transportation executive, I know what is needed to succeed in the trucking industry. My educational background consists of a PhD in Global Business Management, MS in Environmental Management and a BS in Logistics Management and Environmental Management. My professional background encompasses my career from Dispatcher / Operations Manager to General Manager. BPAC profited from my skills over my 15 yr tenure as I helped to grow the company from a local air freight forwarder into a global enterprise with multiple terminals, specialized warehouse / distribution centers and global partnerships. This $120m entity enjoyed tremendous growth while reducing driver turn over to less than 10% and cutting OS&D claims by 85%. Part of this success has to be attributed to my ability to build a strong team through determination and utilization of the strengths of each member. During my following years as a consultant; I cut global transportation costs for one client by up to $1m through analysis, my self designed transportation matrix and rate negotiations. Through my networking connections and the building of new relationships focuses on my client's specific and unique needs; new avenues of transportation were discovered therefore allowing for more positive rate negations.
I am a very organized, energetic, creative, communicative, analytical, logical and progressive leader. Several of my papers have been published and I have been called upon to be the key speaker at various events. I am a decisive leader with a proven track record of success. P&L accountability and budgeting, initially on a department level and then on a corporate level was all part of my responsibilities at BPAC and various consulting positions. Skilled in customer service, contractual negotiations, relationship building, business expansion, workplace / driver safety and innovated practices; I greatly increased the ROI of BPAC, B.E.S.T. and other companies.
Working with customs, secure warehouses, bonded warehousing and other import / export issues in varying modes of transportation has been a daily routine for me over the past 20 years. Many times has my diplomacy and refined negotiation skills been called into play in order to secure a shipment in a timely manner. Paperwork and proper documentation is key in any job but especially so in the import / export of goods. After 9/11 this has become even more painfully oblivious. The ever evolving HOS is one more obstacle to be tackled by today's transportation executive. Staying current in all aspects that affect the logistics field allows me to remain a "top player in the game".
Business decisions have far ranging implications within an organization. My logical and analytical mindset has always allowed me to choose the best course for the company when making business decisions or planning new business strategies. Not only at BPAC but during my consulting years; this skill was called upon often as new or recovering business requested me to create business plans and development plans for their organization. To this day; I have several clients that still request me by name for their projects.
Microsoft Office is just one of many software packages in which I am highly proficient. AS400, Lawson, Qualcomm, SAP, Quickbooks, Peachtree, PC Miler and Road Ranger are just highlights of my industry exposure. My communication skills whether written or verbal; are excellent and I enjoy addressing a group. Customer service is the key to any industry in which I have worked therefore interpersonal skills must be at their peak.
In closing, I know the global transportation industry. I understand financial aspects and repercussions as well inventory controls. I have worked in various countries both in Europe and Asia therefore being accustomed to their way of doing business as well as their unique customs. Bridging that gap between US ways and their ways has aided in my success for many clients. Knowing customs and having worked the various ports of this country; I am confident that I can provide a high level of commitment and service. Give me a call to handle your needs and improve your bottom line.

I love movies. Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil is one of my all time favorites.
Let's pretend we are at the movies and here is the brief mini series of my career -

In those years I have handled safety, P&L, logistics, distribution, transportation management at various locations as well as multimodal, warehousing and supply chain management as well as stewardship and environmental and community awareness. Global issues and attention to superior customer service are all part of my daily routine. Presently, I deal with customs and global issues on a daily basis. My industry experience includes: petroleum, chemical, nuclear, dry bulk, cement, liquid bulk, food, FAK, electronics, high value cargo, temperature control freight, hazardous materials, totes, TL, LTL, JIT, expedited, spill recovery and more.
DEGREED PROFESSIONAL
I have a BS degree in Logistics and Environmental Management,
MS in Environmental Management
and DS in Global Business Management.
HAZARDOUS MATERIAL TRAINED
My University work was focused on hazmat safety particularly in the nuclear and petrochemical industry. Most of my papers and my dissertation were on High Level Hazardous and Nuclear Waste - transport, handling and storage / disposal. I am well versed in the industry and its hazards as well as skilled in hazmat regulations and compliance. I have wonderful communication skills to clients as well as training groups both large and small. My 25 years of safety, environmental management and waste management will allow me to effectively deliver solutions to the client. I am tech savvy and able to covey details and issues. I am a very quick learner and strategic thinker. I can identity short comings, offer solutions and have excellent presentation skills. I have completed safety assessments / case studies, environmental hazardous assessments and waste management solutions. Additionally I have 7+ years of consultancy in this field.
TEAMWORK
Team work was essential to the growth and development of BPAC. This family owned company was taken from a small local airfreight company to a global enterprise under my leadership. I maintained compliance with all regulatory agencies including or involving: DOT, EPA, FMCSA, hazmat, OSHA and NRC. I established policies and procedures for BPAC as well as various other companies utilizing my Virtual Safety Director Services. Additionally, I have recruited top candidates while reducing driver turn-over to < 10% annually at BPAC. I have run training sessions, arranged company outings and provided motivation for my organization. All this allowed us to obtain our goal of superior customer service.
CONTRACTING
Contracting projects over the years have added advanced IT experience, major travel, project management and the ability to interact with members at all levels of an organization. I have been exposed to lean management, change management, ISO and Six Sigma ideas.
HARDWORKER
My track record of hard work, increased productivity and cost reduction has been seen at BPAC as well as various companies during my consulting contracts. BPAC benefited from a 90% reduction in OS&D claims, 50% increase in equipment utilization and a 15 fold increase in gross revenue to over $120m/annual. Northup Grumman's F14 program profited from a 50% cost reduction leading to an additional 3 years of program life. A company with a global specialized fleet has benefiting from savings estimated to be in excess of $1m. I have cut trucking costs by 10%, relocated >85% of the fleet on a cost free basis (savings equal to $750,000+) while optimizing equipment flow. This is just a few examples of what I can for a company. Let me show you what I can do for you!
