Sounds Like
In a nutshell: Julie London-esque; Shirley Horn-esque. Or Eliane Elias minus the piano and the Brazilian accent. ie Eliane Elias-esque.
In less of a nutshell: Hopefully myself. But if you like the vibe created by the likes of Larry Klein, Shirley Horn, Cassandra Wilson, Julie London, Eliane Elias, Diana Krall, Bebel Gilberto and Madeleine Peyroux, then you might just like mine, too. :-)
Official bio
Andrea Mann’s relaxed, smoky vocal style has been compared to that of Diana Krall and Julie London. But her repertoire of classic material from the Great American Songbook, Brazilian bossa novas and arrangements of pop songs by the likes of Stevie Wonder, Paul McCartney and Coldplay – as heard on her debut album Photograph – makes her approach to jazz singing unique as well as accessible and easy on the ears.
Andrea has been singing professionally for just five years. Based in London, and working with some of the finest musicians in the UK, she now performs at jazz venues, private parties and corporate functions all over the country - and the places she has played include the Oxford Jazz Festival, 606 Club, Kensington Palace and the Royal Society of Arts. In 2008, she also had a two-month residency at the five-star G Hotel in Penang, Malaysia.
Andrea's debut album Photograph - for which she arranged all the music, and wrote one track - was released in April 2009 and has already reached number two in HMV Japan's jazz chart, sitting alongside the new releases from Diana Krall and Melody Gardot. It also recently entered Rhapsody.com's jazz charts at number 11.

Born, educated, moved to London. Decided relatively late in life to give it a go with this here singing malarkey. Realised even later that she should set up a MySpace page.
When not singing, writes and blogs (often in the third person), takes lots of photographs, mainly of the sky (see 'Pics'), and watches The Daily Show. She updates her own news at the 'blog' section of www.andreamann.com, and was recently trying to save the world before breakfast at www.englandforobama.com (here's an explanation why).
Debut album Photograph - featuring the tracks here - released in spring '09 (as they call it in the fashion business). It's packed full of bossa novas and arrangements of ye olde jazze standardes, plus tunes by Coldplay, Macca and Stevie Wonder, and one self-penned number. And it's very mellow, very late-night, and very smoochy. Aural Bailey's, if you will. Only without the hangover-inducing properties.
