ABOUT THIS MYSPACE PAGE

I seriously doubt that someone will ever read this, but anyway: I decided to not accept any comment on this page, all comments received will be deleted without reading; neither I will read and reply to incoming messages. If you want to get in touch please e-mail me at info@aferecords.com. Sorry, I don't have much spare time to spend here.

A FEW WORDS ABOUT MYSELF

My name is Andrea Marutti, I was born in 1970 and I live in Milan, Italy. I began my experiments with music in the early '90s using tapes and concrete elements. A few years later I also began to use synthesizers, samplers and other electronic devices, and founded the Lips Vago Digital Studio.

My most well-known projects are Amon and Never Known. Several releases of Ambient / Dark Ambient music were published by labels such as Eibon Records, Nextera, Amplexus, Silentes, Drone Records, Taalem, etc. on CD and other medias.

I am also responsible of many other projects dealing with different styles of electronic music ranging from Lo-Fi / Weird / Cheap Electronica to IDM (Wolkspurz & Ramirez, Lips Vago), Dada / Noise / Non-sense (Spiral).

Recently I also started recording and releasing experimental/ambient tracks under my own name, in duo with Nimh / Giuseppe Verticchio as "Hall of Mirrors", with Davide Del Col (Ornament, Echran) as Molnija Aura, and again in duo with Andrea "Ics" Ferraris as "Sil Muir".

During the years I had the chance to collaborate and play with many friends/musicians/artists: Nefelheim, Madame P, Fausto Balbo, Aidan Baker, Dronaement, Bugo, Hue, Krell, Femina Faber, a034, Florian Filsinger, Roberto Bellatalla, Elephant Zyclus, Kabal, Moan, OvO, Ventolin Orchestra, Sparkle in Grey, Mark Hamn, V/VM, Manuele Cecconello, Amalia Del Ponte, Subterranean Source, Raffaele Serra, Biped...

I run a small label called Afe whose 10th birthday was celebrated in 2005. Among the musicians who had their music released on Afe I would like to mention Maurizio Bianchi, Bad Sector, Maeror Tri, Telepherique, De Fabriek, Ultra Milkmaids, Aidan Baker, Ovum, Steve Brand, Logoplasm, Raffaele Serra, Ellende, Bestia Centauri, True Colour of Blood, Gerstein, Dronaement, Frog Pocket, Moan, Nimh, Brian Lavelle...

My latest solo CD entitled 'The Subliminal Relation Between Planets (Live in Archiaro)' was released by Nextera in January 2008.

SIL MUIR "SIL MUIR"

The self-titled Sil Muir debut CD is out now on Diophantine Discs in the USA, here's the original press release:

"Italy's Sil Muir presents to us here their first full-length work. It is a beautiful, yet melancholy, hour-long recording carrying us along that sleepless journey from dusk 'til dawn. Powerful and gentle drones shudder and shimmer through these four dense and amazing tracks. Sil Muir is the collaboration between Andrea Marutti (Amon, Never Known, Afe Records) and Andrea "Ics" Ferraris (Ur, Airchamber3, Ulna). Their only previous appearances are a lengthy compilation track on Transf.Order and a collaboration with Horchata on Taâlem."

A.A.V.V. "QUIT HAVING FUN - BORING MACHINE COMPILATION 1"

A double CD-R compilation coming in a deluxe gatefold cardboard sleeve. It includes new and unreleased tracks by Andrea Marutti, Frango, Inhibitionists, Annelies Monserè, Arbdesastr, Wizards Tell Lies, Le Reve Reveille, Lust, Philippe Petit, Sparkle In Grey, Genecyst, Kluge, Rom:U, Arterial Red, Claudio Rocchetti, Iris Garrelfs, Coma Stereo, Unknown Celebrities, Gultskra Artikler, Ben Reynolds, Die Stadt Der Romantische Punks, Black Forest/Black Sea, Compression of the Chest Cavity Mirade, Telekaster and Erika M. Anderson. Copies are available for sale through the Afe mail-order.

MEERKAT "KAPNOS"

The Meerkat ensemble is formed by a group of musicians working in the field of experimental music, drones, microsounds and field recordings: Adriano Zanni / Punck, Matteo Uggeri / Hue, Luca Sigurtà, Luca Bergero / Fhievel, Davide Valecchi / Aal, Andrea Ferraris / Ics, Fabio Selvafiorita, Paolo Ippoliti (Logoplasm), Laura Lovreglio (Logoplasm) and Andrea Marutti / Amon / Never Known. The tracks on "Kapnos" present a surprising homogeneity in spite of the different attitudes of the artists, which mixed their experiences in each track creating new unforeseen connections, working in pairs or in threesome on each track. The complete press release is available here, copies are available for sale through the Afe mail-order.

SPIRAL "THE DIGITAL VAPOR GLITCH-NOISE FUSION ACCORDING TO SPIRAL"

"The Digital Vapor Glitch-Noise Fusion According To Spiral", a collection of noisy tracks recorded by Spiral back in 2002-2003, is out now on Lunhare. Copies are available for sale through the Afe mail-order.

"Spiral is the rascal side of Andrea Marutti, a.k.a. Amon and Never Known. The album title says it all, but if it's not enough have a listen to the mp3s."

ANDREA MARUTTI / TOMMASO COSCO "TURRA"

"Turra", a collaboration between Andrea Marutti and Tommaso Cosco, is out now on Afe in the form of a 3" MiniCD-R. "Turra" is meant to be a natural extension to "The Subliminal Relation Between Planets (Live in Archiaro)" CD released by well-known Czech label Nextera in January 2008. The complete press release is available here, copies are available for sale through the Afe mail-order.

AMON VS. MORTAR"

An "Amon vs. Mortar" CD-R is out now on Afe. This is the expanded re-issue of a limited LP vinyl album entitled "From the Grave", which was released by Oktagön Records in 2000 and miscredited to Mortar only. The complete press release is available here, copies are available for sale through the Afe mail-order.

"HORCHATA VS. SIL MUIR"

An "Horchata vs. Sil Muir" MiniCD-R 3" is out now on french label Taâlem. Horchata is american musician/researcher Michael Palace, for this collaboration he reworked two tracks taken from the forthcoming Sil Muir debut album and added his own sounds and structures.

Here'a short press-release from Taâlem headquarters: "Latest project featuring Andrea Marutti (Afe Records, Amon, Never Known, Hall of Mirrors with Giuseppe Verticchio / Nimh), Sil Muir also features Andrea Ferraris, an italian musician coming from the hardcore and experimental scenes. Together, they create some beautiful guitar-based ambient/drone soundscapes... Add Horchata's refined deep ambient layers and here you are!"

A.A.V.V. "PLAY TO: BN CHORA. JUGEMENT"

"Play to: BN Chora. Jugement" is part of the soundtrack created for the "BN Chora. Jugement" installation by Massimo Indellicati / Progetto Sperimentale Chora and is Sil Muir (Andrea Ferraris & Andrea Marutti) debut release. Our contribution is one long track (33m57s), entitled "To the Outer Fringes", that is inspired by "The Wild Blue Yonder" by Werner Herzog. The album also includes one long track by Gianluca Becuzzi & Luigi Turra, plus two short audio documents by Anna Maria Giordano. A few copies are available for sale through the Afe mail-order.

ANDREA MARUTTI "THE SUBLIMINAL RELATION BETWEEN PLANETS (LIVE IN ARCHIARO)"

Andrea Marutti's latest CD album entitled "The Subliminal Relation Between Planets (Live in Archiaro)" is out now on Nextera. The album was recorded live in Archiaro (Albi, Catanzaro, Italy) in August 2007 and is a 74 minutes excursion into ambient / dark-ambient territories. A few copies are available for sale through the Afe mail-order.

ANDREA MARUTTI "I HEARD IT THROUGH THE WOODS (AND LAID UPON THE SHORE)"

Andrea Marutti's thirty minutes long music video entitled "I Heard It Through the Woods (and Laid Upon the Shore)" is available now on Streamit. It, a new web television. You can watch the video at full-screen resolution by clicking here.

OVO / A.A.V.V. "VOODOO REWOORK & VIDEOO"

Taken from the acclaimed "Miastenia" album on Load Records, the song "Voodoo" is now remixed, decontextualized, reworked and covered by ten different and valuable artists from around the world. From Belarus (Buben) to U.S.A. (Amy Denio), passing through the old U.K. (Luminous) and all the various provinces of OvO's own land, Italy. Each artist took the sound of the original recordings (cello, noises, the recognizable drumming of Bruno and Stefania's screaming) and re-used them in unknown ways. Sometimes adding contemporary-style piano pieces (Mark Hamn), post-rock guitar and violin drones (Sparkle in Grey) or mysterious instrumental additions (Amy Denio). Someone else went hard on tape and concrete treatments (Harshcore and Larsen Lombriki), another with beats and electronics (Buben), passing through the noisy dark lands of Luminous and Andrea Marutti. Moreover, OvO themselves give us a different and more powerful version of the original track, and the videomakers of Invernomuto contribute with a weird and narrative video. The CD-R comes with a voodoo personal card & pin!!!

A.A.V.V. "TABLE FOR SIX: ALL QUIET? 2"

EE Tapes has just released the second volume in the "Table For Six: All Quiet?" series. This new chapter includes all unreleased and exclusive contributions by Objekt4, Andrea Marutti, Laurent Perrier, Lutnahimat, June 11 and Brian Lavelle. The compilation is limited to 300 CD copies and is packaged in a beautiful 7" cover.

HALL OF MIRRORS "REFLECTIONS ON BLACK"

Hall of Mirrors is an experimental music project founded by Andrea Marutti and Giuseppe Verticchio (Nimh) in 2005. Their first album entitled "Reflections on Black" was released by Silentes in early July 2007.

Hall of Mirrors utilizes different collaborators on each work, guests on "Reflections on Black" were Giulio Biaggi (Nefelheim) and Daniela Gherardi.

ANDREA MARUTTI "THE BRUTALITY OF MISBREATHING"

"The brutality of misbreathing, just like being choked by the anxiety of an endless resonating emptiness, uselessly searching for a way out of loneliness. Spending days with half-closed eyes, hoping to dream reality away for as long as possible, observing a new failure in the early morning light. Trying to fill an ever-growing lack of warmth with self-made illusions, still feeling alive as tears flow down lapping the edge of a broken nose."

"The Brutality of Misbreathing" is Andrea Marutti's first full-lenght release published under his own name. The album is a one hour journey between dramatic dark atmospheres and drone-based ambiences in slow and continous evolution. Echoes of reverbered metallic sounds and sharp circular loops, electronic elements and saturated signals close to distortion emerge each now and then from the disquieting sound mass. The music flows in a persistent alternation of majestic crescendos and quiet discreet stases; a sense of tension and discomfort permeates the whole disc, just like being stuck in a long and appearently never-ending bad dream...

AMON / NIMH "SATOR"

During 2005 I met with Giuseppe Verticchio to record a few tracks together and we ended up recording two albums worth of material... "Sator", our first collaboration, was released in February 2007 by Eibon Records.

Here's an excerpt from the press-release...

"The mystery of the ancient and puzzling magic SATOR square is evoked again in present time through five dark tracks entitled like the five palindromes that form its fascinating structure: SATOR / AREPO / TENET / OPERA / ROTAS. The album is a granitic and majestic work, a musical journey in time and history that leads the listeners to the deepest and remote abysses of Earth through archaic and magmatic sounds, confusing them along the way with the technologic and synthetic vibrations of oscillating sinewaves, and with frosty isolationist timbres programmed through fluxes of information written in binary code..."
