The sun was shining on the sea,
Shining with all his might:
He did his very best to make
The billows smooth and bright --
And this was odd, because it was
The middle of the night.
The moon was shining sulkily,
Because she thought the sun
Had got no business to be there
After the day was done --
'It's very rude of him,' she said,
'To come and spoil the fun!'
The sea was wet as wet could be,
The sands were dry as dry.
You could not see a cloud, because
No cloud was in the sky.
No birds were flying overhead --
There were no birds to fly.
The Walrus and the Carpenter
Were walking close at hand.
They wept like anything to see
Such quantities of sand:
'If this were only cleared away,'
They said, 'it would be grand!'
'If seven maids with seven mops
Swept if for half a year,
Do you suppose,' the Walrus said,
'That they could get it clear?'
'I doubt it,' said the Carpenter,
And shed a bitter tear....
(Lewis Carroll: "The Walrus and the Carpenter", Tweedledum and Tweedledee, Through the Looking Glass)
From The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint Exupéry
I had thus learned a second fact of great importance: this was that the planet the little prince came from was scarcely any larger than a house!
But that did not really surprise me much. I knew very well that in addition to the great planets--such as the Earth, Jupiter, Mars, Venus--to which we have given names, there are also hundreds of others, some of which are so small that one has a hard time seeing them through the telescope. When an astronomer discovers one of these he does not give it a name, but only a number. He might call it, for example, "Asteroid 325."
I have serious reason to believe that the planet from which the little prince came is the asteroid known as B-612.
This asteroid has only once been seen through the telescope. That was by a Turkish astronomer, in 1909.
On making his discovery, the astronomer had presented it to the International Astronomical Congress, in a great demonstration. But he was in Turkish costume, and so nobody would believe what he said.

Nice!! I took a series of Tai Chi classes a few years back. Works great in combination with yoga. Great idea for you. Gotta get back to the discipline. Wow..yeah those are some nice shows. Hey lucky for you on Morrissey...he had to cancel a bunch of shows (doctors orders) and is back on touring again. Well...haven't started the concert run yet. Yeah..got mine mostly right after my tax return...ABC, PY, Duran Duran, American Idol, Tears for Fears, Jonas Brothers, U2. The first five are all in a one week period...three in a row, two in a row. Shows reset my mind and I really need that so it should be fun. Have fun at yours and keep positive. Thanks for stopping by!! You're going to do great!! Hugs. Deb xx
So glad Snow Patrol was a good show for you! Yes, it does make a difference when the lead singer is charismatic and tries to connect with the audience. It's soo important! Snuck down to the front row? I would have done the same thing! Any favorites of the night?
And tomorrow huh? Well, don't look back with regret ... only pride.
Hi Andrea. I am very excited to be going to Italy. I had an e mail from the manager of our hotel and said it is very hot there. I wish you all the very best of luck in finding new employment. And have a lovely time in Greece, I have always wanted to go to the Greek Islands. Have a lovely time and look forward to seeing your photos. Hugs Lesley xx
Hi Andrea Thank you for the holiday wishes, I am really excited to go back to Italy, especially as I have lost so much weight, How are things with the job situation, any luck? Hope your ok. Have a lovely weekend. Big hugs lesley xxx
Hi Andrea. Just stopping by to say hi. I've been thinking about you lately and wondered how you are faring with things. Seems like the energy has settled down a bit over here...although the company I work for didn't meet their projections even after cutting everyones pay be twelve percent. Hoping things kick in... I know how you feel..you don't realize how stressful it is on you...but you can't change the past and its almost a waste of energy to think about that. I do a lot of "sincere wishes" where I really just put everything I've got into it...and that seems to help me the most. Take care now... I thought you'd be hitting the road to Orlando in May. I could have done an overnighter but I spent the rest of my tax return on Jonas Brothers tickets. Also am going to Tears for Fears, Duran Duran, ABC/Wang Chung, and U2. The first three are in the first two weeks of July. Something to look forward too. Hang in there and be well. Hugs. Deb xxx
Ha Ha! Yea, I'm walking that bull dog! He's a sweetie! Off to the pool now to swim some laps. . . wish I were going to that New York exhibit and having a drink with you, though!
How how wonderful! Thessaloniki!! I have flown in there on three separate occasions and drove down to Nikiti to stay at The Hotel Virginia right on the Aegean Sea. Made wonderful friends there: Karin, Nikitas, and Agathi Chouchoutas. Oh, you will have a rejuvenating experience with Tai Chai and Qi Gong (not sure of what Qi Gong is!) and I am thrilled for you!
