Create Your Badge.. SEX. Wine (not drugs..anymore). Rock & Roll & DISCO! The Do's and Dont's in VICE magazine. Early summer days (crystal blue skies!) in NYC that remind me of LA without the suck. The opening of the play "The Fever" with Wallace Shawn with a glass of Champagne GOING OFF on the (privileged, paying) audience for 90 minutes. Buying toilet paper at 4 a.m. (because I can!). My smokers' delight combo--Jamaican Flavors (R.I.P.)and Peanut Butter & Co. next door to my apt. My vast black T-shirt collection. Las Ramblas (170 W. 4th Street, between Jones & Cornelia, 646-415-7924)--this is where I enjoy "albondigas" (meatballs) and "croquetas de jamon" (ham croquettes)and other testicle-shaped tapas. !Delicioso! And I also nuture my unabashed admiration for the lovely & amazing proprietor Natalie Sanz. Yes, my two great obsessions are salty Spanish balls and Natalie Sanz! Technically, I guess that's 3 obsessions. Hmmm....The NEW YORK POST, because it can report the story of "The Sopranos'" Vincent Pastore being arrested for a domestic dispute and get away with the headline: "PUSSY BUSTED!" and, finally....voting in 2008 as a citizen of NYC with (potentially) 3...Um, 2...maybe 1 New Yorker(s) on the Presidential ballot!
  • Music

Jay-Z, "American Gangster" (Black superhero music--feelin' it!). Blondie ("Dreaming"--Best. Song. Ever.). Red Hot Chili Peppers.U2. KanYe West.Bjork. Amy Winehouse. PRINCE. The first singles released from every Alicia Keys album. Beats from the summer of'88: Public Enemy's "It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back." Fishbone's "Truth and Soul." Boogie Down Productions' "By All Means Necessary." All during the summer of the Cuban prison riot and the DNC in Atlanta and the shooting of "Do the Right Thing" and the death of Jean-Michel Basquiat in New York. The Distillers/Spinnerette...and the upcoming soundtrack to "Beat the Client."
  • Movies

Oliver Stone's "Any Given Sunday," which I am suddenly obsessed with. Bob Odenkirk's "Let's Go to Prison" (hit theatres the same time as "Borat" but holds up MUCH better on DVD). Robert Altman's "Nashville." Jean Renoir's "The Rules of the Game." John Cameron Mitchell's "Shortbus." Josh Whedon's "Serenity" (Chitewel Ejiofor is PURE EVIL in this one). "Little Miss Sunshine" (special thanx to Esco-babe-O for turning me on to this one). "Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy" (I can quote this movie better than Southern congressmen can recite the 2nd Amendment). "The Sweet Smell of Success." Brian DePalma's beautiful-bastard-of-a-movie, "The Bonfire of the Vanities." And the only two comedies that I'll need before the nuclear apocalypse..."This is Spinal Tap" and "Team America:World Police."
  • Television

I'm a big fan of Tina Fey because we have a lot in common: we wear glasses, we're both brunettes and we're both surprisingly chesty. While "30 Rock" still rocks hard!!! My new fave is...HBO's "Flight of the Conchords", brilliant, futuristic comedy all the way from the year 2000...and New Zealand?!? "Entourage" is..for punks. "Action!" starring Jay Mohr, Illeana Douglas and Buddy Fuckin' Hackett: 13 ferocious episodes about Hollywood playing itself. "Republica Deportiva" and "Primero Impacto" on Univision: I don't speak Spanish but "soy comprende" torrid female eye candy. This is TV for your ceiling (see below, "FOX News Channel").Brilliant but cancelled: "Kitchen Confidential" and "Greg the Bunny." "The Sarah Silverman Program" for 3 reasons: (1)It has HOT Jewish beauties (or "Jewties" as my Israeli friend Nava calls them), (2) LAURA is The Silverman You Want, and (3) even Blacks don't believe God is Black. Anything on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim. "Late Night with Conan O'Brien" for 3 more reasons: (1)the Masturbating Bear, (2) the Lincoln Money Shot Channel--shown only ONCE, and (3) sometimes Mike Myers brings clips of the porno versions of his movies when he's on the show."FOX News Channel":NOT because I'm conservative, but it's like when you see your pastor getting lapdances at Jumbo's Clown Room or buying "Deep Inside Vanessa Del Rio" on the church's Discover card. How can I fight evil if I don't know what evil is? And what's more evil than a hot chick in a short skirt compelling you that it's okay to vote Republican? If the FOX Business Channel had existed in the '80's, we would've seen Liz Claman demonstrating trickle-down economics using a melting cherry popsicle and wearing a halter top. "Wonder Showzen": the most demented thing ever put on TV. When Bush talks about terrorists hating our freedom, he doesn't realize this is the REAL freedom we fight for. The sad truth: all the foul-mouthed, ironic-beyond-their-years NYC kids who appeared on this show are very likely to grow up perfectly normal and happy. And hopefully write for "Saturday Night Live." "The WB's Superstar USA": the WB Network doesn't even exist anymore!!! Will we ever see this fake-ass (faker-ass? faker-assed!)"American Idol" on DVD? Nina Oh, a/k/a "Nina Diva", had already designed her own doll! Vitamin C was a judge! Jamie Foss (www.jamienet.tk), the lame-ass (lamer-ass? lamer-assed!)Jessica Simpson wannabe, who did win, is living proof that obscurity is not a destination, but a journey. And now I break the fourth wall of MySpace and all blogs: Jamie Foss is still more famous than me.
  • Books

Nobody told me there would be a quiz on this and NOBODY EVER ANSWERS THIS ON MYSPACE! So I'll make this short list sweet and extra-petite: "Bulletproof Diva: Tales of Race, Sex and Hair" by Lisa Jones. "Sight: Adventures in the Big City" by Veronica Webb. "Jazz" by Toni Morrison. "365 Days/365 Plays" and "Getting Mother's Body" by Suzan-Lori Parks. I feel like I need to include a couple of white authors here, so how about..."Geek Love" by Katherine Dunn and "World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War" by Max Brooks. I'm also feeling Elizabeth Currid's "The Warhol Economy:How Fashion, Art and Music Drive New York City," which details how NYC's artists and nightcrawlers pay back the city's aura by generating a tangible $9.2 billion. Now if only we creative folks can find a way to get "stanky rich" in ways that don't involve poles.
  • Heroes

Simpson (o.k., I KNOW,...you gotta read the script), Robert Blake, Kenneth Lay, Ace Frehey, J.T. LeRoy, Andrew Ridgeley, "Downtown" Julie Brown, (white) Julie Brown, Dirty Vegas, Can-I-Bus, Praz, Nas Escobar, Vijay Singh, Jason Itzler, Derek Jeter, Bar Refaeli, Jim Nantz, Choire Sicha, gawker.com, Jan Stephenson, Mickey Wright, Howard Sounes, Naomi Campbell, Vanna White, Rachael Ray, Charlie Sheen, Hugh Grant, Cuba Gooding,Jr., The Reverend Al Sharpton, Kato Kaelin, Stacy Ann "Fergie" Ferguson, will.i.am, John Cameron Mitchell, Nickelback, Kylie Ireland, Drew Barrymore, Rudy Giuliani, Esera Tuaolo, Amelie Mauresmo, Billy Dee Williams, James Caan, Michael Strahan, Miles Davis, Cicely Tyson, The Reverend Jesse Jackson, Bill Cosby, Robin Givens, Omarosa Manigault-Stallworth, Lee Elder, Titanic Thompson, Bob Murphy, Charlie Sifford, Menudo, Lystra, Chapel Waste, Apu, Hank Azaria, The Beatrice Inn, The Waverly Inn, Gisele Bundchen, Jason Kidd, Julie Chen, Les Moonves, David Dinkins, Hot 97, the "Miss Jones in the Morning" Show, John Travolta, Zinedine Zidane, Dave Chappelle, Ving Rhames, President George W. Bush, Condoleeza Rice, Foxy Brown, Jay-Z/Shawn Carter, John Forte, Shakira, Liz Cho, Bijou Phillips, Evan Dando, (former, disgraced, fuckin' idiot) Governor Eliot Spitzer, Maria Bartiromo, and Keith Olbermann. A special shout-out to NY Wankees pitcher Roger Clemens--I hear his new book is gonna be called, "Pinstripes and Needles." And let me backtrack to Barack Obama: I REALLY WANT HIM TO WIN, but come post-election-day on November 5th, I don't want that bad Kwame Jackson-on-"The Apprentice" hangover. Just sayin'. *POSTSCRIPT: Wednesday, November 5th, 2008.... So there was no Omarosa for Obama and our dashing hero scored an Election Day smackdown! Tuesday night, Greenwich Village, NYC, 'round midnight: I got more high-fives (out) and fist-bumps (in) than I did during the Giants' Super Bowl victory. I even saw someone holding a sign: "OBAMA! KLAATU BARADA NIKTO!" That's NOT a Kenyan dialect, by the way--it's the "safe-word" that deactivates the killer robot in "The Day the Earth Stood Still." If only Barack's middle name were "Raheem" instead of "Hussein"--how cool would it be to call our new President B.R.O.? **POST-POSTSCRIPT: Wednesday, January 21, 2009... My Top 5 New York Observations of "The Inauguration of Barack Obama." (Why does CNN's branding of the event sound vaguely gay porn-y? Like, "The Violation of Guantanamo Bay" ? 5. The big smile on cellist Yo-Yo Ma's face while he played on John Williams's "Air and Simple Gifts." I've never seen any artist so absolutely happy. Maybe he caught a glimpse of Jay-Z's Cossack hat... 4. The barely-stifled grin on O's face when Chief Justice John Roberts stumbled on the oath. Maybe it was an "O sh*t!" moment. As a Senator, President Obama opposed Roberts' nomination. 3. The little "salute" V.P. Joe Biden gave as the helicopter spiriting W out of office lifted off. WTF was that?! Giving the finger to the last 8 years, that's what it was. Stay classy, Joe! 2. SCLC founder Rev. Joseph Lowery's "the red man can get ahead, man" benediction rap was hilarious! As a former Atlantan, I've heard him do that before, but to uncork it in front of billions--genius! Good thing, too, because Elizabeth Alexander's poem sucked. 1. Seeing now ex-VP and Sith Lord Dick Cheney in that wheelchair reminded me a lot of the evil Mr. Potter character in "It's a Wonderful Life." "You once called me a warped old man...." All in all, a perfect day. Thanks for finally trimming that Bush, America!

About me:

So this MySpace page isn't about me, Andre Paul Thierry, exactly...It's more about the fabulous camera-ready screenplay, "BEAT THE CLIENT," written by me, kept under wraps during the strike by the Writers Guild of America and now pushing for the greenlight to go into production in 2008 or 2009. (I fully support the Guild, by the way, even though my dick is a member, but I am not. I honored the strike. I even picketed at Time Warner in Columbus Circle. But I gotta play Devil's advocate: first of all, was it fate or conspiracy that the Hollywood hierarchy was reversed in terms of the strike schedule--first, the Writers on the front line, then the Directors nad finally (if at all) the Actors? WTF?!? The Writers were like the Black soldiers in the contractual 'Nam. Frankly, I don't know if tomorrow's 2-year fixed residual of $1, 200 for online streaming and the Year 3 2%share of the distributor's revenue was worth today's billion-dollar shutdown or the loss of 70 development deals by now-stillborn "show runners." DIABLO CODY'S smile for her WGA Original Screenplay victory might be as Pyrrhic a face as there ever was. Post-strike, the writer may well be hot, sexy, dead.Is it a revolution if (scripted) television is no longer televised? Next thing you know, the WGA will be striking over broadcast rights for our wet dreams. And the studios and the AMPTP will compensate us for our nocturnal emissions, but refuse to give us a percentage of the dreams themselves.I gotta admit, though: the WGA's strategy of getting independent producers & studios, such as David Letterman's Worldwide Pants, Tom Cruise's United Artists, The Weinstein Company and Media Rights Capital to sign agreements with the Guild was brilliant---guerrilla warfare-brilliant! That may have been the difference between this year's strike and the strike of '88. Watch this space, your TV and your local movie house, assuming any of these technologies still exist come May 1, 2011.) Anyhoo, one of the best things about comic books, which i grew up reading along with the occassional James Baldwin novel and "the" Bible, are the "Secret Origins" of superheroes in which stories are told to lay down the background, firm up the mythology and revise the perception of characters for us, the fanboys. And so this is the Secret origin of "Beat the Client".... One of the best things about graphic novels ("Persepolis," "Maus," Kyle Baker's "Why I Hate Saturn," Ho Che Anderson's "I Want to Be Your Dog") a/k/a "comic books, " which i recently started perusing to supplement my dog-eared copy of David Sedaris' "Me Talk Pretty One Day" and "Pictures of Nothing," the transcriptions of Kirk Varnedoe's Mellon Lectures, is the revisionist mythology of the "Secret Origin." A "Secret Origin" of a superhero is the creator-author's vain attempt to provide substance, meaning, artistryand, yes, even credibility to my...er, um, his/her pop culture contribution. A "secret origin" is the literary equivalent of marrying foie gras to peanut butter. (I confess I didn't make this up: you can actually find "Foie gras, peanut butter, cocoa, pear" and Absinthe Gummi Bears at Tailor restaurant in NYC, 525 Broome Street between Thompson & 6th Ave, (212) 334-5182. I'm just happy I got this far into this MySpace page before saying: "But I digress." And so I present to you, the Secret Origin of "Beat the Client"---hate to be a total clit-tease, but you gotta go to the Blog.

Who I'd like to meet:

The stars of "Beat the Client" are absolutely fictional, but just as pretty & gritty as New York City itself....
