Marcus Ritter 77/5/7 - 01/9/11I met Marcus Ritter in a Nascar Forum some years ago. One day, I tried to get him on ICQ but his wife Louise was online using his account. She told me Marcus couldn't get on ICQ anymore. I happened to chat with her several times afterwards and she told me the whole story. From the very beginning. Jewish salesman Helmuth Ritter came to the United States from Germany in 1938 because his store in Cologne was closed down by the Nazis. Since he knew that much worse things were about to happen, he escaped together with his wife Martha and the son Frank. They settled down in Brooklyn where he opened a store. The family stayed New Yorkers. Frank's son Robert and his wife Jaqueline received their son Marcus in 1977. Marcus wanted to be a firefighter since he had been a little boy. On September 11th, he was called to the World Trade Center which had just been attacked. He managed to get several people out of Tower 1 before it collapsed. When he was ordered out via radio he replied that there was enough time to get some more people out. He was sadly proven wrong. He never got the chance to meet his son James Helmuth Ritter who was born November 3rd, 2001.
