At night, deep in the mountains,
I sit in meditation.
The affairs of men never reach here:
Everything is quiet and empty,
All the incense has been swallowed up
by the endless night.
My robe has become a garment of dew.
Unable to sleep I walk out into the woods-
Suddenly, above the highest peak,
the full moon appears.

I bet when the neanderthal kids would make a snowman, someone would always end up saying, "Don't forget the thick, heavy brows." Then they would all get embarrassed because they remembered they had the big hunky brows too, and they'd get mad and eat the snowman.

AIT, Al Gore's An Inconvenient Truth, comes out on DVD on Tuesday, 21st of November, and that means that you now can be an active part of the solution even more. You now can:
-Organize AIT "parties" at home every week, every month, (anytime).
-Once motivated after seeing it you can take your guest's info (if you don't have it already) to sign them up to make groups.
-Once you have at least 1 group you can plan weekly/monthly activities such as:
-Find out if there's a Peak Oil group meeting in your area, these folks have much to offer and they need you, (as much as you need them). If there isn't one, even better, 'cause you have the chance to start one and put one more out there, Weee!
Contact the organizers of other Peak Oil groups for guidance. DON'T BE SHY!
-Plan a fieldtrip to the Permaculture Institute of your city. If not available, contact them by email for them to send you a kit and use it in your meetings.
This is a great start and it's a lot more than just replacing light bulbs, commuting smart and recycling, which are all needed measures but we have more to give than that, don't we?
Don't forget that it's necessary that we do this change together so the more people working together the more efficient it will be -not to mention the good that reaching out as brothers and sisters does to a community! (Don't underestimate the blessings hidden in this crisis).

MUSICIANS, EVENT ORGANIZERS, PROMOTERS, RADIO STATIONS, COLLEGES, SCHOOLS:
Have you heard of The Rocky Horror Picture Show? (Live)
Well, based on this idea, (don't give me grief if you don't approve of the movie (Rocky Horror), just get the concept of what I'm saying please), you can mix a great musical venue interchanging the focus of attention from the movie (AIT) to music played live organizing it in sets back and forth, like you can divide the movie in sections and alternate with bands on the stage. Also you can incorporate a speaker from the Permaculture Institute of (your city), if available, and if not you can see if you can invite one to your neck of the woods. (Have a car wash drive to raise money to cover their traveling expenses and offer them your couch for the night, they won't say no if you ask lovingly). *wink* (batting your eyes may be useful...)
It is important we carry on with joy in our hearts throughout this adjustment because you don't see it yet but the sacrifices will be hard and we need to sing to this and stand together, we need a movement and we need to smile so we need to use the support music brings to nurture our morale.
We'll need music for the new mentality to launch and we'll need it later to recharge when we're tired because this challenge is not going to go away.

Here's much, much we can do! We don't need to be dormant and waiting for the governments of the world and the private sectors to empower us -we are the power in itself!

Barely days ago we said no to war, (in the US), now let's say yes to life! Dare to commit 'cause all your children are going to want to know when they ask about these times is what were you doing for this issue. Act 'cause the happy ending is not in the bag.

I wish you the best following my suggestion or creating your own but once committed please don't get discouraged. Understand you will find much opposition and lack of infrastructure. Don't see this as a detached charity, it isn't neither "detached" nor a "charity", insist!

If you don't share my sense of urgency visit my myspace page and watch the two upper videos but above all TAKE AIT HOME, watch it, and then we'll talk.

Peace

Beth Waters
