somewhere between the sound when you open a jar or a bottle of Snapple (the pleasant, refreshing Pop, a.k.a. The Best Sound Ever), and the sound when you leave the side door of Taco House (a hideous squeak, a.k.a. The Worst Sound Ever. they really need to oil that sucker).
Call it a concept album, call it a musical, or call it like I do; a gorgeous ride that I wish I could hear again for the first time. This is the musical equivalency of the lean-in-and-pause of the first time you kiss someone you really, really like. It is available online at www.paperandplastick.com and vinyl-loving nerds will be pleased to know that they can be satiated with a purchase. I speak without hyperbole when I say that I can’t wait for the day that ‘Columbus’ tours as a collective rock show, or finds life in an off-Broadway theatre. Move over Duncan Sheik; his name is Dost and the texture in his score will kick Spring Awakening’s ass.
When asked about the purpose of this odd musical odyssey, Dost has
only this to say:
"The ultimate goal is to live in a house the exact size and shape of a
Blue Whale. It will be made of latex, so as to feel realistic, and the
tail will be connected to an exercise bike so that when I pedal, it
wags. For showers, I'll just stand above the blowhole."
"But Andrew, what will the neighbors think?"
Here's how they'll think:
"That guy is awesome, he lives in a house the exact size and shape of
a blue whale!"
hello, friend! it has been a long time. there are replicas of the nina and the pinta sitting docked in the river just a few blocks from my house. can i assume there is a replica of you somewhere near by?
hey andrew, for the fun tour, you guys forgot to add San Diego on there. I checked the SOMA venue in San Diego and they confirmed you guys are playing there. So just letting you you should fix that.
