Powerful tenor Andrew Heller has an aptitude for captivating an audience. Heller has sung with numerous symphony orchestras as a soloist as well as the solo tenor for the famed Marble Colligate Church on Park Avenue in New York. His Passion for the music of Broadway has led him to record this most recent album, Broadway Love.
Andrew Heller’s long and illustrious career as a vocalist includes:
First Place in the New York Young Artist Metropolitan Opera Auditions.
Studying and singing with Leonard Bernstein.
Studying with the head of the Long School for the Metropolitan Opera.
Performing with the Philadelphia Philharmonic as well as numerous other east coast symphony orchestras.
Performing lead roles in New York at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Marble Colligate Church, and Summer Stock in both New York and Connecticut.
After winning many awards and competitions in his teenage years and singing professionally to earn much of his spending money during his university years, Andrew Heller turned his attentions to high technology. He spent 23 years at IBM working his way to the top echelons of technical and business management. He was the youngest scientist ever appointed to the position of IBM Fellow, a lifelong title. Among his contributions, he was the President of the Independent Business Unit (located in Austin, Texas) at IBM that created the family of computers now known as the RS6000 and IBM’s UNIX operating system.
After leaving IBM in the late 1980s, he spent last 14+ years in the creation and building of new, high technology companies both as a venture capitalist and as an entrepreneur, a career that he continues to pursue today. Although he started these activities in the famed Silicon Valley, he returned to his beloved Austin in 1993 where he has remained ever since.
